Dear Jeff, Thank you for putting together this wonderful website! A Manx kitty was 'dumped' near our house two weeks ago. She was thin and a clearly traumatized by finding herself in an unknown environment, with no food and no shelter. We slowly built her trust by feeding and watering her, until she allowed us to pet her. We then borrowed a scanner from our vet, and realized she he had no chip. Since we have two territorial cats (and a cat-loving dog) of our own, we knew we couldn't adopt her, but we wanted to try and find her a good home before giving her to a shelter. While searching online for adoption resources, I came across your site. Emails started coming in the next day after I posted. Many people showed initial interest, but never followed up. One family did, however. They drove two hours to our home to meet her, and it was love at first sight. We never intended on giving her to the first person who came along. It needed to be couldn't be the a really good fit, and I just couldn't be happier with the home she found! 'Our' kitty will be loved and taken care of, as all animals should be, pure breeds or wonderful mutts :-) Thanks again, Jeff, and thanks to Brian and his lovely family!

I was heartbroken at the need to find a new home for my most special and beautiful girl, Bailey. I had her since she was a puppy, on my little farm in TN but sadly, life gets in the way of plans, and found myself having to give up the farm and move to the city. Bailey deserves way more than that. So I reached out to you fine folks at RescueMe !! She was well taken care of and happy, so she was better off than those sweet dogs you rescue from puppy mills and those that are dumped, but you treated Bailey's need for a home with just as much importance. I placed an ad for her to find new parents. Time went on, and I was concerned because I had very high mandates and expectations, and many people called me fitting some, but not all, and I thought I might have to lower my expectations. But I could NOT, for Bailey's sake. So, on my Birthday, the very day canceled transport for her, I got a call from her new mom and dad. Barb and Greg are everything I could have hoped for Bailey. They have always rescued dogs, and most recently had another greatly loved Great Pyr 'Poppy.' I wept and hugged Bailey for days, and worried about her the whole trip, but I got the tearful call this morning. Bailey had arrived in her new home state of Vermont. Mom and Dad were there, dog treats in hand, and they were greeted by a big wet kiss from Bailey. She is on their property now, safe and forever loved. Bailey and I , and Barb and Greg are so thankful that RescueMe was able to work for all of us. I cannot thank you enough. I will be forever grateful. Rescue me will now be on my list for gift donations!! ThankyouThankyouThankyou!! Best Regards, Bailey and Shannon

Jeff, your website is amazing! I personally contacted many organizations when my neighbors and I rescued these little guys from being killed on a busy street during rush hour and was so disappointed when I called various organizations to seek help and wasn't getting any. It became crystal clear the owners weren't coming to get them. Within a little over 3 weeks and ONLY with the help of this organization these two adorable boys have a new life ahead of them. A very kind and compassionate lady contacted me and was willing to adopt both of the boys together. I can't believe the number of wonderful people who contacted me and offered their help since I posted these little guys. I'm sorry to those that only wanted the Bichon or the Toy Poodle. I just couldn't bear the thought of splitting them up since all they had left from the life they once knew was each other and clearly they love each other. May God bless each and everyone of you and your four legged babies! And my most special thanks to their new 'Mama'.

Mr. Gold, I wanted to thank you & everyone at 'Rescue Me!' for offering such a wonderful, caring, & free-of-charge service for pets & their owners. After my Husband & I had adopted (actually cleaned out our bank account to save) 30+ neglected parrots, we eventually rehabbed & new found homes for all, save one, who was considered 'special needs.' Over the past six years we have struggled to find her a suitable home, & have refused many potential adopters who just we not what we were looking for & not nearly what Lucy deserved. However, within a few weeks of posting Lucy on your website, we are happy to say that she now has a new & loving home, which is only 45 minutes from us so we can even keep-in-touch! We are so pleased with your site that I will recommend it to anyone in search of a loving re-homing or potential adoption. We have also just submitted a $100 donation for your services, and as a sincere 'Thank you.' Truly, Angela Westlake

This is such a wonderful site! I found Bandit an absolutely amazing home. I was scared to death to give him away, but I had no choice. I couldn't afford to pay the deposit to have a pet where I live, shoot times have been tough with the economy and I had to feed him the cheapest unhealthy food and he was underweight. Now Bandit is on an 80 acre farm with a loving couple and new friends! When I met them they were just as sweet as could be and I even got a follow up email to tell me how well Bandit had adjusted. Though I miss him terribly, I can sleep knowing he has so much love there, and they have the ability to give him everything he needs. I am so grateful to them and to RescueMe.Org. You saved my sweet Bandit and a thank you just is not saying enough!

Dear Jeff, I am very happy to say that Tank was adopted out to a wonderful home after being placed with a shelter! The couple that saw him on the website instantly bonded with him when they went to see him. It was a good feeling to know that the breed, size and color didn't play a factor in their wanting to adopt and that he was going to a good home. It's amazing to know that there are loving caring people out there who are willing to adopt a dog and give them a loving home. Thanks so much for having such a wonderful site for people to use and help the dogs. I will get around to donating something in the next few days. It was a great experience. Sincerely, Dario R. Valdivia

I am so pleased to announce that our foster dog, Baby, has found a happy home! We found this sweet girl living in a trailer with a man who neglected her and treated her poorly. Although we really were not in the best financial or logistical position to give her the forever home she deserved, we took her in to get her back to health and show her love, and began our search for the best home for her. We discovered during her 7 months with us that Baby has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a skin and connective tissue disorder found in humans, and in canines known as 'Rubber Puppy Syndrome.' Luckily for Baby, her disorder was of the mild variety, only causing her skin to be delicate. While this did take extra maintenance, she was so worth it all. We wanted to be sure we found her a home where her new family would appreciate her condition and love her regardless of the challenge. Finally, via Rescue Me Animal Rescue Network, we found her a home on 80 acres of heaven, with 3 other German Shorthaired Pointers, with whom she could run, play, and explore. Her new family has reported that she is adjusting well and has become very attached to her people and her new doggie-companions. They love her and she loves them back! Thank you so much, Rescue Me, for making this resource available so we could find an appropriate and loving home for this amazing, sweet-souled creature. She deserves all the good in the world. We miss her very much and love her deeply, but are so happy that she is living her life somewhere that she will be truly cared-for and loved.

Jeff, we did indeed adopt out Dakota. Allow me to share that I was very satisfied with the responses we got using Rescue Me! We had a horse that would not have sold in the market due to her condition, but very much deserved to be loved. Although we needed to downsize and could not give her what she deserved, Rescue Me! came alongside us and facilitated us finding a wonderful new home for Dakota with someone we very much trusted would have her best interest in mind. It was rewarding to adopt her out and very much appreciate Rescue Me! Scott and Michelle Hendrix

I am so thankful to Jeff Gold for providing the Rescue Me! site so I could find a new home for my beloved young Cornish Rex cat, Sniper. I am a 100% disabled veteran. My spouse of 29 years abandoned me with no notice leaving me in an unsure living situation as well as a financial and emotional vortex. I had absolutely no friends or living relatives to help. I needed to find Sniper a new loving and stable home. By the next morning after posting on Rescue Me! I already had my first query about Sniper. Within days I had found the perfect home and a couple drove from New Mexico to Las Vegas to take their new adopted child home. Sniper will be living like a Prince in a beautiful house where he can watch deer out the window and have many loving hands to pet him and play with him all day. Wish I could be so lucky. J. Daniels

Hello Jeff, I just wanted to thank you for your website and for making it possible to find good homes for these animals. I recently used your site to find a new home for my amazing dog, Riley. Unfortunately, my work schedule made it impossible for me to continue to care for my little guy, and I was at a loss to be able to find him a home where I could count on him being loved as much as I loved him. Following some advice, I started with a posting on craigslist, but the responses that I was getting left me more uneasy than comfortable. After a bit of searching, I came across the Rescue Me! website, and immediately knew that this would be an ideal place to post an ad for my little guy. The site clearly had the best interests of the animals in mind, and the website was easy to understand and use. I immediately listed Riley on your site, which took about ten minutes total. Within a few days, I was getting responses from people that were much more knowledgeable about the German Shepherd breed, and seemed to be more serious about being dog owners (rather than the people who were interested in a dog as a novelty, which is the feeling that I got from the previous site). I almost immediately found Bruce, who eventually became Riley's new owner. Bruce is a dog lover and as soon as I met him I got such a wonderful feeling from him, and Riley loved him immediately too. Bruce had used your site because he was looking for both a rescue as well as a Shepherd, and your site fit the bill. After one meeting and one follow-up conversation, we knew that he was the best fit and made arrangements for Riley to go to his new owner at the first of the year. Since Riley moved to his new home, I have received follow-up emails and have even been able to visit in person at a dog park. To be honest, I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I have you and Rescue Me! to thank for it. It was a very difficult experience to give away my little guy, but it was made easier by finding him such a loving and attentive new owner/home. Thank you again. I have made a donation to Rescue Me! so that other wonderful animals can continue to find new loving homes. All the best, Shawna

I found Dallas a great home after 4 visits between me, Dallas and his new owner - all one day apart, we saw that it was a great match and Dallas would get the consistency of the stable life he needs that unfortunately I was unable to give due to a move which would not allow me to keep him. I am lucky enough that his future owner has offered me to visit him when I would like to and is near enough for me to do so. I plan to let them get settled in and meet up sometime over next couple of weeks to see how they have done with their bonding. His future owner has had 4 other Rottie's the most recent being Rocky which was his daughters and she took him with her when she left for college so he has really been missing a companion. I'm very excited for Dallas and his future. I received more than 20 responses from my ad and all were really great people that had stories of their past Rotties or other dogs to share.

Dear Jeff, I cannot even begin to explain the gratitude I have for you and your site. I had emailed several places locally and had no response in helping me place my animals in a new home. Luckily, I came across your site (via Google) and within 24 hours I have placed my 5 Nigerian Dwarf goats, my 6 hens and possibly my 8 roosters (still hashing that one out). But needless to say I was so overwhelmed by the responses I had received for people wanting to take in my animals and give them a loving home. Even people writing me as backup options being they were a little too far away but still wanted to offer their homes as an option. As a cruelty-free vegan I cannot express my gratitude for having this option to find new homes (approved by me) for my animals. I think your website is an amazing tool for animals all across the US. I sincerely thank you for having the compassion to start such a website for people who truly want to find their pets new loving homes. Keep up the good work and again, thank you for your wonderful site!!! I will be sure to pass this site along to organizations I am familiar with. Jennifer Larson

I want to thank 'Rescue Me' for this wonderful service. I had a large number of replies about Patch. I met the woman who adopted Patch - she had another Bulldog - and they became fast friends. Patch and Max hit it off very quickly, and Debbie seemed to genuinely care about Patch. She knew a lot more about English Bulldogs than I did. Patch is in VERY good hands now. When I found him he had been abused, neglected and was starving. He will never have to experience that again. Thank you!!

Boo's original owners, who have been looking for her for about a year, saw her on Rescue Me! and called me up. They came over to see her and she knew immediately who they were. It makes my separation from her easier knowing that she is back with her original owners. Just having a website to post pictures is awesome and it works. Funny thing is they only live a few miles away so it was kind of obvious that she was either stolen or she escaped and she was fortunate enough to have my wife and I rescue her from our neighbors who said that a friend of theirs found her lying in the street. Thanks to people like you who help make it possible for people to reunite with there pets. Chris

Thank you, Jeff. I want to let you know that our Siamese has been adopted. Someone must be looking down from above - last week we found the nicest lady, who is a very spry 77 years old and a retired PhD English Literature Professor. She is VERY well educated (oh my!) and has had 3 Siamese in the past. Her last cat was a Tabby who had been left at 5 months old in the desert with a bowl of food....some people! Anyway, a rescue group found the kitten before the coyotes did and she adopted her and named her 'Chou' (pronounced like shoe and is French for Sweetheart)... she had Chou for 13 years - just had to put her down a few weeks ago as she had terminal renal failure coupled with Thyroid problems. She was heartbroken and really in need of a new companion. Our daughter and I 'interviewed' her here at our house when she came to meet Coco and then she invited us to come see where Coco would be living in the future right then and there... her condo is gorgeous (I'd live in it any day) with a beautiful view of the mountains. We decided that it 'just felt right' and Coco went to her new home last Saturday....it didn't take long for Coco to sniff her way around and find just the right spot to lay down... yes, I cried - but in the end it's a win-win-win-win for all - a win for the lady who now has a new companion, a win for Coco as she has an older lady who will dote on her, a win for our cat who now no longer is afraid of what might be around the corner and a win for Dave and me as our life now returns to 'normal.' I will check in with her in about a week & hope and pray that all continues to go well for both. Sandra Vaosdall

I couldn't imagine a better new home for Carson. He is happy and healthy in the beautiful countryside of Wellsville, Utah, with fresh air and a nice big backyard, plus two new siblings to play with...another Papillon and a Goldendoodle! His new mom Aubree is sweet and caring, and was so kind and understanding during the whole process where I interviewed her to death to make sure she'd be perfect for him! She even had his teeth fixed right after getting him (he had a couple of rotten teeth as a result of past trauma that needed to be pulled). I couldn't afford the procedure and she is an intern at her local Vet's office so she took care of it right away. She is going to Vet Tech school starting this summer to start her journey towards becoming a veterinarian! And now you know why I say that I couldn't have possibly found a better new forever home for Carson. He and his new brother Havoc play all the time. I want to thank Jeff and everyone at Rescue Me! for making all this possible. Carson and I got so lucky, and although I miss him so much, I also feel lots of comfort and joy knowing that my sweet little guy is happy and safe in his new home.

I was out of options for my Rowdy, a Border Collie mix, and my heart was breaking as I made arrangements for him to be put to sleep. I then ran across Rescue Me!, and with little hope, I added his photo and profile to the too many others here already. Imagine my surprise when I logged onto my email a scant five hours later, and there was someone who wanted him! I want to thank Rescue Me! from the bottom of my heart for helping me find a new forever home for my little boy, who, thru no fault of his own, almost became another statistic. And, thank you Elizabeth for giving my boy a new home, and a chance to live out his life in doggy happiness!!!!

I am going through a divorce, and so I have to leave my house in the country for a small apartment. If that wasn't enough, I have the burden of giving up my beloved Rottie! My biggest concern was finding someone that wouldn't just chain him to a tree, fight him, or have to take him to a pound where he would be put down! I took a chance and put King on Rescue Me; in fact, it was the only site I used! I had several people contact me within 24 hours of posting him! I was shocked because Rotties have such a bad reputation perpetuated by those who have NEVER OWNED ONE!!! The people who contacted me were genuinely concerned about King's future and agreed that once you've owned a Rottweiler you always want to own one. King has a new home, a fantastic new home, and found one within 48 hours!!!! Please do not doubt, or hesitate to use, this resource. The site was easy to use. Although I am sad to see King go, I have peace knowing that he is completing someone else's life. I owe that to Rescue Me. Your adored pet can too!

Hello, my name is EmilyRose I live in CT and I rescued a quaker parrot from an abusive pet owner who tormented this baby parrot. I am a long time bird rescue, trainer and healer. I had my bird for about two months, we became very close during that period when an unexpected turn of events occurred. I had to take a flight in less than four days and could no longer keep my parrot. I became desperate to find a him a home. I was in a complete panic that I called everyone I knew even as far away as RI rescue, there, a kind Doctor returned my call and referred me to someone in CT, I called a local parrot society, but I realized that there was an application process I needed to go through. I would have to home him until he was found a home. I just couldn't accommodate that request. I browsed online and found RescueMe.Org. I posted an ad and a photo. Within one hour of the post I received several phone calls. I spoke with a woman who had several parrots of her own and just wanted an extra companion in her home. I quickly learned she only resided two blocks from my actual home, (what are the odds) although i was prepared to travel far to get my bird to the right forever home. I met the entire family and within an hour my parrot was communicating with other birds and seemed so happy. I can not express how grateful I am to have found this site. What's even more unbelievable is that this woman offered to home him for free until I returned from my trip. I know in my heart he is better off being adopted with her, she has much love and attention to give him, after all that's why I rescued him... to give him a better life. Thank you RescueMe.Org, Emily Rose Arroyo

I needed someone to 'foster' Sophie for me while I had a double-lung transplant in Florida, which should be approx. 6-9 months, to 1 yr. I have made contact, both via email, phone and personal contact with someone here that has taken on the project. There is also a Ragdoll in their family, so I know they're the right match. I cannot begin to tell you how much this service has helped me. My heart and mind were in great distress as I knew I couldn't take her to Florida with me and I just couldn't bear to let her go permanently. I know in my heart that the person I have chosen is just perfect for the job. Again, thank you so much for Rescue Me! It has been quite a blessing to Sophie and me. Sincerely, Norma Martin

Dear Jeff, I found 'Molly on your website. We drove nearly 4 hours to meet the lady who had found her. She was so nice to meet us. Now 'Molly' is home and already getting spoiled. I can not leave the room without her following me or if I sneak off and she can't find me she will cry and pitch a fit till I come back. She just happens to be lying on a pillow beside me as I am writing you. I also can not wait for my son to come home from visiting his father to get to meet her also. I plan on taking her to the vet this week to get a overall 'check up' and will be making financial arrangements to have her spayed. I live with my parents who have 2 acres of land that I can't wait for her to warm up to her new territory to be able to run free and play. I am keeping her on a leash for awhile to allow her time to adjust. She seems very fearful of my father so we feel like possibly she could have been abused by a man at some point in her life so we will have to take it slow and help her to trust men again. Thanks for your hard work in all you do for animals in your life. Love from Kay & Molly

I am so grateful to Rescue Me and all of it's members. Giving up our yellow lab Max was a really tough decision but thanks to you folks and the gentleman who picked our Max up, it was made a lot easier. Because of finances and my own health, we were unable to take care Max any longer. I however know that we did right by Max now by placing him in a good home where he will get the vet care and exercise that I am no longer regretfully able to give him. Max was seriously being considered for being put down to sleep soon as he had some health issues that I tried to take care of but was unable to properly, as vet care is so expensive. We had had Max for about 7 years and it was absolutely heartbreaking for me to see him suffer simply because we could not afford the almost 200.00 to take him in for proper treatment. It was not easy for me to admit that my own physical capabilities are not what they used to be when we first got Max either. Rescue Me truly saved his life and is allowing him to give more love to a wonderful family. The new owner traveled from Iowa to Illinois to get Max and I will be forever grateful to him, his family and this site for giving our sweet, lovable Max a chance to lead the type of life that he so deserves. I know that I made the right choice and am very at peace now. I would highly recommend Rescue Me to anyone either looking for a dog or for someone like me who has to give one up. Thank you all so much...you are an answer to prayer.

Hi Jeff, Tabbie, the beautiful Blue Pit Bull I found freezing and starving to death on a bitter cold day in December, got adopted after 8 weeks of being posted on your website. 'www.RescueMe.org'. After many comments from close friends, family and Vet's office, that I would have a hard time finding anyone who would want to adopt her because of her breed, I am delighted to tell you that she is in a very wonderful, loving and caring home. Your site allowed others from other states and cities to view the site and contact me. I had the opportunity to interview them as well as they interview me without having to be in each other's presence. Nothing that I could have accomplished on my own. Your website is SO user friendly and easy to follow that I have recommended it to all my friends, family and Vet's office. Thank you Jeff for making this website possible for us 'the average person' to keep lost, stray, abandoned pets in our home and nurture them until we can find them a permanent residence. With patience it's possible to get them in a loving home using your website. God Bless you and all you do. Kathlene McGaw

My younger sister was no longer able to care for her turtles and she did not know how to find them a new home. I found the website Rescue Me and within a couple hours of my post I received a reply from a 11 year old boy. We emailed back and forth for awhile and I decided he would make a good new owner. He told me he had his parent's permission and that his family has experience with reptiles. I could tell he was really excited to adopt the turtles. We met and gave his Dad the turtles today and he said he will keep us updated on how the turtles are doing. I feel relieved and grateful that the turtles went to such a kind family and I wouldn't have found them without Rescue Me. Thank you.

Good Morning, Jeff/Rescue Me! I found our new member of the family, aka Buster, on Rescue Me! I was searching and searching everywhere for another dog, after our beloved Jack Russell died last year. One day I was searching, I think, for the zillionth time, when suddenly your website popped up on my computer. At first I saw a dog that was at risk of being euthanized and when I called the shelter, I think that it already had been. Then I signed up for the alerts and one day a dog named Buster was posted but with no picture. I contacted the owners and we met in the Tampa area this weekend. One thing Buster's former owners were concerned about was that Buster go to new owners who had Jack Russell experience, since they had already given the dog to someone who must not have had JRT experience. Then 2 days after they had given Buster away they found his picture on the website for a local shelter and the owner went to the shelter and picked up Buster again. We are now back home on the East coast together. The biggest problem was trying to find dates that we were available to meet to pick up the dog, since the owners had a busy schedule and we all were quite a distance from each other. Buster is adjusting and probably misses his former owners, but we will do the best we can to make Buster feel at home in his new home. I have already contacted Petsmart and signed all of us up for an obedience class, which starts tomorrow. Thank you so much for providing us with the link we needed to fill up the hole in our hearts left by the death of our previous JRT. However, I can not emphasize enough that this breed it not the breed for the faint of heart...they just plain are an everlasting challenge. This dog is not for the couch potato or someone looking for a cute little lap dog. This breed is great for someone with an active lifestyle who is willing to discipline consistently, be firm and give a bushel full of love. The dog, although small in stature is exceptionally strong, exceptionally intelligent and exceptionally stubborn. Yep, they are cute, but they require work and for all that you do, they give back with lots of kisses. Thanks again. Jane Brubaker (a satisfied customer and Buster's new mom)

Hello Jeff. This boxer was posted on Rescue Me! the same day my husband passed away. The fact that the boxer's name is Brenda, and my husband's sister-in-law who he absolutely adored is also named Brenda, I just had to save this dog. I looked up and told my husband, 'Ok, I got it, she is safe now.' I waited for weeks and kept calling to check on her until she was ready for me to take her home. The pups had to be weaned before I could bring her home. Happily, I hear all of the pups were adopted, too. Thank you so much for all you do! Kim Gray

I was searching for help to rehab a found snake that I suspected was wild. I posted a plea for help on RescueMe.org and as a result, I received replies to my plea for help the same day and was able to locate wildlife rescue groups that might actually take care of a snake, as there are actually few in the area that take in reptiles it seems. The replies made me realize there were organizations that could help. The California Wildlife Center responded. They were out of my area, so I continued searching and was finally referred to Wildlife Care of Ventura County. Less than a week after posting, the snake was picked up by Wildlife Care of Ventura County and will be rehab by them and released back into the wild as soon as the snake recovers. I am grateful to Rescue Me, to the California Wildlife Center, which also offered to take care of the snake and to Wildlife Care of Ventura County for taking care of the snake. Wildlife Care of Ventura County was the closer of the organizations to my area and to what we think is the snake's nature habitat considering where it was found. Before RescueMe.org, I was not aware there were any wildlife groups that could help and it was wonderful to find groups and volunteers that are dedicated to saving California's wildlife by caring for sick or injured wildlife and releasing them back into the wild. The snake is a California gopher snake, probably a Pacific Gopher Snake, is beautiful and is non-venomous, is not interested in biting anyone and only wants to go about its purpose in keeping natural rat and mouse populations down. This snake is a beautiful addition to California's native wildlife and California is lucky to have this lovely snake, Wildlife Care of Ventura County and California Wildlife Center. Both organizations have Facebook pages, please 'like' them and send in a donation, as well as a donation to RescueMe.org, together they are all savings California's wildlife!

Hello Jeff: I wanted to stop by and say THANK YOU, but somehow I feel thank you its never going to be enough!!! You were the angel I've been praying for about 4 months. I had the very difficult task to give away my beloved baby boy Beaner, and thanks to your site I found him the best possible home. He looked very happy when I left him, and now I'm praying that he has found his forever home. One doesn't want to believe that your loved one is going to be better off, but in this case he is way better off with his new mom and dad and 3 new siblings, and even thought its breaking my already broken heart I am confident that he is well taken care off. Now my compromise and one of my goals is to get back on my feet so I can too rescue a little angel from your website. Please keep up doing what you are doing, its people like you and your team that makes this world a better place. God bless you... Marialicia and Beaner

I found a home for LEXI an English Pointer the morning after listing her. She was rescued from a Cannon AFB in NM. Her owner deployed and his wife would not take her back to NY. My friend had her for 4 months and could not place her near the AFB. She ask me to bring her back to ABQ area and try here. Oddly enough I placed her with a retired Military man who had 2 already. Now I have listed my shiba inu Instead of sitting in the hot sun with the adoptathon at Sam's club. This is going to be my go to site from now on. I am retired with way toooooo much time on my hands and dogs are nicer than people.

Hello to all, I'm glad I found you! My Bailey has been adopted. I can't tell you enough about this site, and how wonderful that someone that knows and understands Border Collies is taking her!!! I'm not giving her up because I don't love her, I just can't give her what she needs. I tried, but fighting cancer not being able to go and throw a ball for her is just not fair to Bailey. She was abused before I took her and will need lots of love and care to get her thru. I can only hope her new owner will love her, I think she will make a great dog for her! Bailey has been wonderful dog for me, laying hours with me when I was not feeling well. Well I guess all I can say is thank you and blessings. Sincerely Liz

Giving my baby Ernie up for adoption was by far the most difficult thing I've done in life to date. However, recently he was adopted by the most amazing woman who is going to spoil him and give him everything he needs and deserves! I can't begin to say thank you for this website enough! I received multiple emails within the first few days of posting him on here and was able to find him the PERFECT home. Being able to post him to a Peke specific site really helped and made me feel at ease - it was so comforting knowing that the home he went to was familiar with the breed. I wasn't comfortable just giving him over to a shelter or relocating him long distance. This website allowed me to connect with potential 'families' for him and really make sure it was a good fit for him and his new family :)

Good afternoon, I filled out all the information for the Rescue Site in the Morning and by afternoon I had an email asked for more info on Peanut and by late afternoon I had a call and we talked some more about Peanuts life and she was picked up at noon today. Now that's what I call a fast rescue, I had taken Peanut back after selling her to a Family 14 months before and after a divorce and the family changes Peanut became unwanted and as the breeder I request that anyone who gets a pup from me I want to be called to take her back and that is what I did the end of October. I wanted to place her and some one asked me if there was a Shih Tzu Rescue local and I found you and the rest is history. I'm glad she has a new home and I liked the Lady very much that picked her up today. Thanks for the help, Kathleen

Hi Jeff, I am a dog groomer. The dog in question - Jack - had been a client of mine since he was 12 weeks old. The family had another older dog Simba, that they were going to euthanize, they had Simba for 11 years. They asked me to find a home for Jack as the dogs didn't fit their life style any more. I had exhausted my clientele list of possible homes, local vets, word of mouth and business facebook page so I googled Cocker spaniel rescue one evening out of desperation and up popped your site. I have been involved in a lot of rehoming of people's pets in the past but have always been lucky enough to find some one in our area, so this was a new experience for me. The advice and feedback offered on your site was fantastic and registering Jack was a breeze, then I nervously waited. Twenty four hours later the phone started ringing and emails started coming in - I was amazed and the best thing was, these people were Cocker spaniel people as Jack was a wild child that had never been given any boundaries or limitations in his 5 years of life. After some lengthy conversations with quite a few people one lovely lady stood out for me and she not only was happy to take Jack but also wanted to care for Simba, the older Cocker. I was beside myself with joy. We were able to meet and with in 3 days we had the dogs and all there belongings flown from one end of Australia to the other. Jack and Simba's new Mum emails regularly with updates on how they are going. So a huge thank you to your and your amazing service you provide. Kind regards, Rhonda Inglis

Dear Jeff, I found a new home for beautiful Kaia through your website. I just wanted you to know what my experience was using your service. First of all, when I found your website I had tried unsuccessfully to place Kaia into a new family by the usual means. She is a very good dog, but with me and my husband working full time jobs, we just couldn't give her the love and attention she deserved. I found your website when I was at my wits end. I found your site easy to navigate, and simple to post Kaia and her story. Within 3 days I had an email about her. Within a week I had found a beautiful loving family to adopt her, and placed her with them on Friday night. The new family drove almost 2 hours to pick her up, and already have given me an update on how well she is doing with them. Thank you so much for helping me find Kaia the family she deserves to have. Sincerely, Stephanie Pinion

Dear Jeff, We found a home for 'Otis' with someone only a block away, before we could even put a photo on the web site. He was dumped out of a van by 2 guys in our quiet neighborhood. Luckily my neighbor saw it and spent hours trying to get the scared and confused dog to come in her backyard. He was very shy, but soon began to trust her. He is the sweetest dog, loves people, other dogs, and settled in nicely with her. We all helped to get him to the vet to see if he was micro chipped (not). They were falling for him, but with four rescue dogs and an ill husband, knew they couldn't keep him. That's when I went online and found your site. As fate would have it, people just one block away learned about him and were ready to adopt, and wanted an american bulldog. So when we told them about Otis they came right over and sure enough, a match made in heaven! Now we can all still see him and walk our dogs together up in the mountains. A happy ending!!! I am sending you a donation on behalf of Otis for all the good work you do. Thank you, Kathryn Hanley

I could not have dreamed for a better situation than what Rescue Me was able to provide! I got an email about 2 weeks ago (10 days after posting) wanting to know if 'that handsome boy & his pasture mate were still available'? The woman was from Lake City, quite a ways away from where the 2 horses are. She wanted to come see them on the weekend and happened to be visiting her mother who lived nearby. When she got here on Saturday to meet them, she told me she had moved in with her mother! There are literally 2 left turns & 8 miles away. They are on 10 beautiful acres and there are 4 mares there as well. I delivered them the next day and visited them today. They are so happy and just love the girls! It was a tough decision to make and I couldn't be happier with Lisa and her family. She already spoiling them! I'm so glad they are in such good hands. Thank you for this wonderful website. I've been telling everyone about it and my story. I will post a request for donations on my Facebook page.

Dear Jeff, My home situation was changing with my youngest son heading to college in the fall, having our Dachshunds, Teddy and Tucker home all day in a kennel and kennelled at night seemed unfair to them. We, as a family, decided that if we could find a good family who would adopt them both, we would make the hard choice of letting them go where they could have a better life. We had them for 8 years, since they were weaned, so letting them go was a very hard decision. We asked all our friends, friends of friends, and more, but no one was able to adopt them. My aunt suggested I list them with a Dachshund rescue, and that's how I found RescueMe.Org. I placed them online on Wednesday, posted a better picture on Thursday, and Saturday morning I got a call from a family who had just lost a dachshund named Tucker that looked just like my Tucker. They had been looking to add a 2nd dog before their Tucker passed away, so finding another Tucker that looked like theirs and could get his brother Teddy as a second dachshund seemed like fate. It was for us too. We now know where they are, who is caring for them and get occasional updates as to their exploits. I can't think of a better 'next chapter' to their story. I've attached a photo of them in their new home, they sure seem to have settled in nicely. Thank you and we'll be sending a donation to RescueMe.Org to help you help another with their pets.      Dear Mr. Gold, this is a GREAT program you run. I've wanted a mastiff since I got out of college 20 years ago. I'm now 40 and have 6, well 5 daughters, and my sixth one on the way. I stumbled on to this site after our local pound got in a neo and I went and seen him everyday, took my kids and whole nine yards. Anyway after sitting in the parking lot for an hour and a half his owners called ten minutes before he come up for adoption which is a good thing but in was crushed, I feel in love as soon as I saw him which is then why I got on my computer and found your site. I signed up for the instant alert [which an awesome thing] my gorgeous neo popped up and it so happen it was only bout 40 miles away over in Ohio. I called the owner and asked about a million questions, too many I'm sure. She was super nice on the phone, I loaded up my 2 youngest daughters (1 and 2) in the truck and took off. As soon as we met the new pup its was like she had known us her whole life. Anyway in short, she is smothering me right now on my lap with laptop on her back. She has not a worry in the world. We have 180 acres that she now owns. Shes going to be great.....thank you so much for offering a program like you do...I thank you sir......I dont have much to give you but I'm going to send a donation in the mail, its not much but like I said I have 6 daughters........thanks again sir from the family.      Dear Jeff, Rescue Me! was such a blessing for us! Bella is a beautiful, intelligent dog, anxious to please and needing lots of daily exercise. We brought her into our home as a very young puppy to keep her from being given to a shelter. Unfortunately we soon found that our age, our urban address and our lifestyle were not the best for Bella. To provide her with exercise and socialization with other dogs, we took her to a dog park, dog beach or a dog ranch every day. She was happy with us but needed a different kind of home. We had no idea how to find her a really good home until I stumbled onto Rescue Me! My biggest fear was that she would be added to a group of hunting dogs because I knew she needed a loving, personal relationship. We were able to speak honestly and openly to the callers wanting information about Bella. Most of the homes did not fit. However, the first time I spoke to her new father I was pretty sure he was the one. She is now living on a horse ranch that has acres of fenced land where she can run and play. Her father is an active, outdoor man with a love of dogs and horses. We miss Bella terribly. We put all her pictures away for a time and I frequently cry about missing her. She is not yet 18 months old, so in my heart I know that she will have a long and happy life now. That makes me feel better. I have the image of her running flat-out across the beach; a picture of health, strength, beauty, and happiness. I will treasure that memory forever! And thanks to Rescue Me! I am confident that she will have both the lifestyle and love she deserves in her new home. I would recommend Rescue Me! to anyone who finds themselves in the heart breaking position of loving a dog who needs a different home. Many thanks, Sarah Jarabek

Jeff, I rescued a beautiful registered English Bulldog 'Buddy' from Kentucky, I live in Virginia. The experience was easier than I had anticipated. Everything that was stated by his owner was very accurate. The correspondence was done through email even though the phone number was provided. Buddy's owner did everything she could to make the rescue as easy as possible. She was willing to do what was needed. It was a 517 mile distance and she met me part way. She gave me a wonderful, healthy ball of fur. I did pay her for Buddy, as he is a purebred but I would have given anything. I saw his picture and instantly fell in love. He has adjusted just fine. I would encourage anyone to don't just look in your area but branch out and consider going to another state if an animal you are in search of is not available in you state. I did and it was so worth the drive. If the time was to ever come again to rescue/adopt I will definitely use the website again, Thank you so much for 'Rescue Me,' My life is absolutely complete again. Denise Korn

Hi Jeff, Daisy got a wonderful home. I have to say I was skeptical that anything would even happen once I posted daisy on RescueMe.Org however, I was proven wrong because the very next morning I had this wonderful lady call that was so excited about daisy who just loves dogs. I felt bad because I had a lot of responses via e-mail interested in daisy and I had to tell them she was adopted already. I am thankful for you and your site caring and supporting homeless animals. I hurt for all the homeless, neglected, and abused animals out there. I'm only one person and can only do so much on a limited income, so I do what I can, and I pray for them, so god bless you, And all that are helping the animals. Kimberly Rosario-Elmore

Dear Mr. Jeff Gold Founder of Rescue Me, I came upon RescueMe.org while searching for the best way to find good homes/rescue for Noah and his brother Zero; 2 strays I acquired. Your site allowed me to reach more people than I could have done on my own. I tried other methods to find homes/rescue and was unsuccessful. However, thanks to RescueMe.org I was able to find a loving home for Noah. Zero does not have a home yet but I am hopeful a trustworthy, responsible, and loving pet owner will come forward and give Zero the love and care he needs. I have done volunteer work for stray cats/kittens in NJ before and was present at the adoptions; on the other hand I have never done adoptions online. I did make-up an adoption contract that Noah's new owner eagerly signed without qualms and though there was no money exchanged due to no adoption fee I'm sure Noah has been matched with the right pet owner. Sincerely, Erin Bertrand

Maggie found a great home!!! This is the best website, I am telling everyone I know about it. We brought Maggie into our home after watching her roam the streets for two weeks. We couldn't stand it any longer. We placed ads and looked for her owners but no one came forward. We had been looking for a home for her for the last 2 months and I came across your website a couple of weeks ago and posted her information. I had no picture to post but started getting inquiries after a couple of days! We live in the country on a couple of acres and have horses, goats, sheep, pot bellied pigs, parrots, cats and dogs. She got along well with all of them. Everything was fine and we were just waiting for the right home to come along but then she discovered the neighbors chicken coop and realized how much fun chickens were to play with! Unfortunately she played with them to death and the neighbors got upset! (I don't blame them) So we ended up in a position that Maggie had to go in a few days or we would get a $1,500 fine! I changed the post to let people know she was in immediate danger because the pound here has parvo and it is a kill shelter. Most dogs that go to it have 3 days or less. It was breaking our hearts to think she would have to go there. But the people that frequent your website came through! After I changed the post it was only 3 days and Maggie had a home! I just want to say thank you for putting this website together and for all the great people that make it work! You truly are a Godsend. Terrilyn Little

Dear Jeff, This is the most amazing story! Chewie was not adopted. But that is great! The reason I could not keep Chewie was because of series of unfortunate events, that included the death of my husband last October. I had to move to an apartment from the house I had lived in since 1998. While the apartment allowed pets, I did not have the $300 non-refundable deposit to make it legal for Chewie to be there. There is also an additional $20 a month fee for him to live with me. I smuggled Chewie in and prayed everyday he would not be discovered before I could find him a home. He is 10 years old and in excellent health, but I worried about him going to a new home at that age. I was contacted by a woman named Cindy. She had seen Chewie on Rescue Me and was determined to help me find him a home. We emailed back and forth for several weeks, trying to find a solution. She was trying to put together a relay team to transport Chewie to her home, on the east coast of Florida, so she could foster him until he found a forever home. One day during the emails, the Cindy made a statement 'that it was too bad the complex where I live would not allow pets.' I advised her that the reason was not that I couldn't have Chewie but that I could not pay the deposit. Cindy then advised that the rescue group she works with had a fund for just such situations. About a week later she sent me the money for the deposit! Chewie is now a legal resident of the apartment complex. None of this would have been possible without Rescue Me! I will forever be grateful to your organization. Please feel free to share my story. I am attaching a picture of Chewie, sound asleep in my bed, the night we got the money from Cindy for the deposit.      Dear Jeff, I was able to find Bandit a great home using your website. I found your website easy to use and most helpful with my current situation. I was recently unemployed and found an apartment in CA with my cousin and a new job. So I was unable to take him with me. A lot of people were interested in him so it made me feel confident that he will have a great home cause I was able to pick one. The family that has him is truly amazing and wonderful. It was hard to say good bye to him but with your adoption website made it so much easier. The family loves dogs and fell in love with Bandit right away. I find it truly amazing and inspiring that you do this website and also that it is completely free. I will be sending an donation to you. May God bless you and your life and may you be an inspiration to others. Sincerely, Diane Jupin

I had a perfect experience...although Nenca has only been with me a week, it is clear she is a perfect fit and friend for life. The Family that nurtured her for the few years she's been on earth did a wonderful job considering what she went through. She was in the perfect foster family, and I know for a fact, that if circumstances were different they would have happily kept her. I can not praise Della enough for her hard work and immense love. She is an angel. As far as Nenca is concerned: this little lady still has some work ahead of her, but I know she'll be OK. She's got spunk under her quiet shy exterior. ALL these dogs deserve that chance. If I wasn't in an apartment that had foster restrictions....and a bigger place at that, I would surely volunteer my efforts in fostering, since I do have nearly 20 years in Border Collie experience (2 dogs under my belt; one of which that lived to a ripe old 17 years!!!) and Lots of patience and love to give to them as well. I pray each and every doggy finds their forever home with kind, good people. I can't promise instantly, but I intend to send donations your way. Good luck and love!! ~Lia

Hi Jeff, I apologize for not getting back to you before this. Wow its been busy at my place. I have been receiving your rescue notifications for some time now. I've been wanting a yorkie, but just haven't had the extra money to get one-that is until I saw Max :-) I contacted Heather, who had Max and decided right then, I wanted him!! He has the most adorable face! He has had some issues with learning to do his business outside, because of the way he came into the world, living in a cage his first 8 months of life, but this week he seems to have turned around and is doing much better about this-Yea Max!!!. He is just a joy to have around! You're website is a great way to find a dog! I have been a dog lover since I can remember and from a young age have had a dog in my home. My kids were raised with dogs and now my grand kids too. They LOVE Max and he loves them!! Thank you for you wonderful site. In my opinion, this is the only way to find a dog to join your family. The people who rescue them have a heart for saving these wonderful dogs and they do what they can to find good 'forever' homes for them. If I owned my own place and had the room, I would be a rescue person too! Thanks again and have a great day, Penny Willis Proud owner of Max!

Hi Jeff, I am so glad we found RescueMe.Org. We tried other online postings to find Odie a new home, and although we received plenty of responses, nobody replied which we felt was a good match for Odie. We found his new family through RescueMe.Org. A lovely young couple were cruising RescueMe the day I added Odie to the site, and they 'fell in love' with him. Zach contacted us several times via phone and email, we chatted, got to know them, as well as what Odie's new home would be like. We live in Panama City FL and Zach and his wife drove here from Tallahassee to take Odie home today. Odie does not easily take to strangers, and we were a bit apprehensive, as were they. It took about 15 minutes for Odie to take to them. They hit it off, and seem like a perfect fit. They stayed for awhile getting to know him, and by the time they were ready to leave, we could tell Odie would love his new family and home. Zach and his wife are on Facebook, and they will be adding us as friends, and posting photos so we can stay updated with Odie and see he is happy. Odie is going to be well taken care of, and lavished with attention and interaction by his new family. We are overjoyed he has found such a wonderful home with such a nice, young couple. I will be making a contribution to your site within a few days, and thank you so much for such a wonderful service. Valeria and Steve Blackburn

Dear Jeff, Thank you for having your website available for the innocent animals left behind by irresponsible people. We did find a home for the Rottweiler named Cyrus now. It was actually a local person who took him in when they learned of his plight. The new owner has taken Cyrus to the vet, has had him fixed, and will be having his leg fixed to make life more comfortable for this rescued angel. It will cost this new owner over $1200 to take care of Cyrus' health issues. How generous is that of someone to undertake in these hard times? I guess family will be helping the new owner with this cost. I was contacted by three individuals through your website; one in Manhattan, one from Wyoming County, and one closer to Buffalo. Even though Cyrus already had a home, it was wonderful to know people cared and were interested in an animal with a bad leg. God Bless and thank you. Lynda

Jeff, I am writing back to let you know how my experience was with Rescue Me! The site was very easy to post Charlie, and I received many replies. I chose a family that seemed to meet our expectations and I removed the posting. One day I stopped receiving replies from the family, and have assumed that they no longer want Charlie. I have reposted in hopes that we can find a great home for him. With all of the help that your team has provided to us I have left a small message that you could possibly use for 'letters' section. The experience with using Rescue Me! was wonderful and a little more helpful than I had actually expected. As soon as I posted my pet for adoption I received 5 replies from families that wanted to adopt him. We were extremely pleased with the results of using this website. Regards, Jack

Hi Jeff- Using your site was amazing. Thank you. We are moving to Europe and will not be able to take our standard poodle. I had SOO many wonderful people contact me about Jazzmine. I ended up adopting her out to a family of 3 with the most precious 9 year old girl. It was a perfect match! Thank you for providing the site. It was a wonderful experience and the best way to manage this tough situation. Sandra

Hello Jeff, Nellie was adopted and is very happy with her new home. She is a real sweetie and it was so sad for me to have to let her go. Your site > RescueMe.Org < worked out very well for me and it is real nice to know that you can post for free, that is a big help for many out here that are looking for good homes and families for there loving pets. I was able to find her a wonderful loving couple to give her what she was use to having in life while I had her. I was looking for just the right site to put her on and I came across yours to see how it would go and what kind of people would I come across looking to adopt Nellie. I posted filers around but the people that had inquired about her just did not seem to be the right match. So when I came across your site I thought why not, and then I got a call from a couple and we talked and met and they were perfect for her but it was up to Nellie, well Nellie took to them right away this made me feel good about the chose. It is good to know that there are some sites out there that have good people looking for pets for them and yours is one of them. I do miss her so very much but I know she has a family where she can remain happy and loved as my wish was for her. She also has another dog there to run and play with. So knowing she is in a very good home makes me happy. Thank you and would recommend this site to anyone.....Sue.

In my experience trying to adopt an Aussie, I don't exactly qualify as an optimal candidate for getting a dog. I'm not a huge fan of Vets or vaccines. I firmly believe in the power of plant medicine and self directed care, so pretty much none of the other sites would work with me. One wouldn't even acknowledge my requests. Your site allowed me to directly contact the owner so that I could form my own relationship with them. I was able to explain my situation and my belief structure which the adoption agencies were unwilling to hear. They expect (practically demand) a white middle class lifestyle, picket fences, healthcare, steady job; I have none of those. What I do have (or rather had) was an Aussie shaped hole in my heart. It's not easy being a small farmer, there is no money in it . Your site allowed me to cut out the middleman. Thank you for this. Jack will be very happy here with us. He's only been here a few hours and he's already found the nastiest puddles of rotting leaves and covered the couch in sewer stink. While he's still confused about why he's here and not at home, time will change that. Again , thank you for what you do. Charles Schiavone

He was adopted. Just a brief history of Odie our dog. We adopted him from the Humane Society 1.5 years ago. At the time he was just getting over a skin condition. I pointedly asked if he was cured or if this was an ongoing condition. I was assured he was cured. Long story short he was not and it was too much work for our daughter to keep up with him. When I contacted the Humane Society about them finding him another home they said they did not have room and to just take him to the county animal shelter. There was no way I was going to do that as I know how that would end. I had the idea to contact your organization and see if they could help. After screening 5 replies I was able to find Odie a good home with a new owner who had a dog with the same skin condition and was familiar with the care that would be required. Your organization was great and I was able to place Odie in a great home with a very caring new family. Thank you from our family as this was a tough decision to give him up, but we knew we were unable to properly care for him. Your group made a difference in this great little dogs life. Thanks again Ed Chalmers

Jeff, Thanks to RescueMe.Org and the West Memphis Greyhound Rescue, Jethro of Ruckus is on his way to a loving new home. His new family tragically lost their 15yr old greyhound just recently to cancer. They have another (female) greyhound at home, and were recommended by the West Memphis rescue. Our 3 short days with Jethro have been amazing! Having stumbled upon him in a rural area here in Arkansas, we knew instantly that we had to find his home. He was too well mannered and healthy to have been a stray for very long. We quickly learned how to trace his ear tattoos through the national greyhound registry and not only found out his proper name and lineage, but his date of birth, race record, etc. The registry also showed that he was adopted out through the West Memphis rescue. From there, the rescue was able to contact the former owner. Unfortunately, he was unwilling to continue to care for Jethro. The rescue then made the decision to place Jethro with his new family. Since they were the ones that originally rescued Jethro, we felt the need to refer to the Greyhound rescue to place him with his new family. However, in the day since the ad was posted on RescueMe.Org, we have received numerous calls from loving families wanting to adopt Jethro. Turns out that Jethro has had an amazing life. Thanks to RescueMe.Org, and other pet loving organizations and individuals alike, his story will continue. Thanks again to you and your organization for all the work you do. Mike

We just used the 'Rescue Me' website to find a loving home for our milk snake. I cannot say enough about this website. I had tried calling several vets and schools to see if they were interested or knew of a way to find a home for our snake and didn't have any luck. Once I heard about this website, I posted the info, all very simple and straightforward. Within a day I had several interested people contact me. We could not be happier with our snake's new owner and home...a nature museum, where she will be used to educate kids! If we had not had this incredible resource, the 'Rescue Me' website, I'm sure we would still be searching for a home for her. I highly recommend using 'Rescue Me' if you have a pet that needs to be adopted!!! ~Molly Murphy

Mr. Gold, My wife and I had our first child (baby boy) in the beginning of 2012 and we soon found out that he is allergic to our dog (Teddy). With this news, Teddy was moved to the backyard and has been an outside dog. We live in Arizona and after speaking to a trusted veterinarian, he confirmed what we were thinking: an English Bull Terrier does not thrive in the Arizona summer heat and he suggested that we put Teddy up for adoption. Our veterinarian suggested Rescue Me! and we made Teddy's detailed post in about 5 minutes. Rescue Me! was an amazing experience! Minutes after posting our ad, we started receiving emails and phone calls requesting additional information about Teddy. I spoke to each individual that expressed interest since my number one goal was to find my best friend of five years a home that would be amazing. Everyone responded well to this request and many submitted a short summary email of how they could provide an outstanding home for Teddy. After a week and several considerations, we found the right home for Teddy. We are so blessed to have used Rescue Me! and we know Teddy will have an amazing life. Thank you so very much!!! Eric

Dear Jeff, The experience of using RescueMe.org was amazing. I have been attempting to find a new loving home for my Lilly for some time using other resources. When I decided to give this website a try, it could not have been easier to post a photo and information. Within 10 minutes of posting, the calls and emails started. Before, the difficult part was trying to find a loving home. With RescueMe.org, the problem was trying to choose between all the wonderful people who wanted her. It is heartbreaking to have to re-home a beloved family member, but it was a relief to be able to get through the process in such a simple and smooth way. Thank you for helping to make a hard task much easier, and for helping me to find the right home for my baby. Regards, Taylor

Mocha was adopted using Rescue Me! I have had a ton of emails and calls for the past few days and a lovely group of girls drove all the way from Orlando to adopt him! I am so glad that I found Rescue Me because Mocha was in desperate need of a home! Without this site, he would have never found a home. Before Rescue Me I had him for adoption everywhere but no one seemed interested. Within twenty four hours of posting the ad, his new owners were on their way to get him! McKenzie

Dear Mr. Gold, Thank you is not enough to express our infinite gratitude for your website. We love animals, especially dogs. When we found 'Rocco', it was our first time interacting with a Rottweiler. He was very intimidating. We walked him for hours around our neighborhood without any luck in finding his family. My wife and I took him to Petsmart to scan him for a microchip. Rocco had one, but it was not registered by his family. The more time we spent with Rocco, the more we got to care for him and see how loving he is. Unfortunately, we are not able to keep him. We had called Animal Control and feared he would be euthanized in just a couple days. I had taken a picture of Rocco to share with my facebook friends. I started searching on the web for rescue agencies for Rottweilers and I found Rescue Me! I immediately uploaded the picture I had to your website to try our luck. In 24 hours, we received 6 emails and about 3 voice messages. At this point we called Animal Control and told them to cancel our request to drop by to pick up Rocco. Your site helped our Rocco find a great forever family. Now, we miss him terribly but we are also extremely happy Rocco will be in a great home. Washington

Dear Jeff. I found a great new home for Teesa! Thanks to your web site I had a lot of response from a wide range of people from all over the country. It was really a blessing for me to know she is being loved and pampered like my Mom wanted her to be. I new my home would never allow her to be comfortable for she did not want to be around other animals. The gal instantly fell in love with Teesa. She drove over three hours each way to meet her and was thrilled to adopt her. We had agreed that I would provide the funds to update her shots. However she refused to take the money after all cause she was so happy. An added warm fuzzy for me after all I have been thru with losing my Mom. Both of us were on tight budgets but more importantly Teesa was getting her great new home full of all the love she deserves. I had inherited three cats and I had already had one cat and two dogs of my own. Sadly I had lost my favorite of Moms cats... a Special Sphynx boy about a month after my mom died. Hit by a car and survived to drag himself home but he was badly hurt and we had to do the unthinkable. Then we got another incident where my husband had killed a dog that was off leash and ran in front of the car with no chance to stop. So its been rough recently but I smile just knowing how Teesa is being treated like a queen kitty and your web-site made that happen. Thanks so much for all your kind efforts put into Rescue Me! God Bless! Kim Harris

Hi Jeff, I found a GREAT home for Rufus on RescueMe.Org! I posted the hungry and frightened stray pit bull with as much information as I could, and within 12 hours, got an email reply from a really nice lady in Rome, Georgia, just a few miles away from my home, who was looking for an animal with exactly the same traits as Rufus. We agreed to meet at her vet's office to see if the dog was compatible with her one year old son, and it appeared to be love at first sight! Then together, we saw the vet and he did the complete examination of Rufus, with vaccinations, heart worm testing and all other required tests and treatments. The new owner used the vet visit to further bond with the dog and I was so happy and relieved that this gentle, loving animal found a family that would be actively keeping him healthy and up to date with his care. He will be an indoor dog, living with the family. The new owner had already bought him a bed and some toys based on several phone conversations we had, even before meeting in person. Rescue Me for pit bulls is an incredible resource for matching people to compatible, yet at-risk animals. This potential owner contacted me within 12 hours, and my husband and I 'gave up custody' of Rufus within 48 hours! What a satisfying experience. Thank you very much for keeping this website active and functioning well. Yes, I will donate to Pit Bull Rescue. I was formerly fearful of pit bulls, but after having this dog in my home, and becoming very attached to it, I believe they are one of the sweetest breeds of dogs I've ever dealt with. Thanks to RescueMe.org, Rufus now has a new loving family! Christy Krusac

Jeff, Thank you for this. When we realized we had to give Olaf up, we were really worried about finding a family that would love and care for Olaf and realize the unique breed of Newfoundlands. No sooner had I posted Olaf's name on the site and I was receiving emails from individuals whose spirit I recognized, a spirit that loves dogs and realizes the pain of giving one up. Every email I exchanged (and I assure you it was close to 50 in less than a week) was compassionate and excited and thoroughly interested in not only adopting Olaf but joying in his eventual placement. Several people even offered to keep him for a bit until we re-settled after graduate school (the reason for his placement). Thank you for this service, I hope many more benefit from it as I have. regards, Dan

Dear Jeff, Thankfully, Gabbana has found a wonderful new home with her 'new dad.' He responded to my ad almost as quickly as the ad was posted. He agreed to 1st come and meet her, and he did the 'right thing'.... he brought treats for her! Yesterday, he came by, a second time, but this time, to adopt her. She seems to adore him, and he is very happy with his 'new little girl' canine companion! He agreed without hesitation to the adoption fee, and readily signed the Adoption Agreement I presented. We were very sad to see her leave, shedding quite a few tears as he left with her, but we all new it was the best decision for our family, and for her new owner. I was able to smile through my tears, watching from my window, as Gabbana excitedly jumped into his car to go off to her new home. :) Thank you! Gratefully, Debra

Hi Jeff, Bella was adopted officially today. Within minutes of posting Bella (even w/o a picture) I had inquiries via phone and email. I met a lot of interested people and we discussed their living and family situations vs. what Bella's needs were. I was very up front about Bella's needs with everyone and definitely did not want them to get into a situation where she was shuffled around again. I was slightly pressed for time because Bella was a rescue I had taken in against my lease. She needed care and love... even if I had a terribly small home. Ro, from Masthaven contacted me when he saw that Bella had been on the website for a little while. After working with him and sending him pictures he told me that she was in fact not a mastiff but a Cane Corso. I just recently learned what that even was. He was still very helpful, educational, and really cared about what happened to Bella. He reached out to a rescue for Cane Corso. That weekend, I was told that I had to find Bella a home or I would be in violation of my lease. Plus it was apparent to me after educating myself on the Cane Corso breed and her behavior that my small living space was not healthy for Bella. I reluctantly had to take Bella to our local Animal Control shelter. I admitted her as a stray which places a 3 business day hold on her from being adopted. That gave me time to continue to work with the rescue. I was willing to adopt her back once the hold was up. Yesterday, I received a phone call from a lady named Sue that seen the posting for Bella on your website. We talked about Bella in length and I told her the whole story. She went out to the shelter today and met Bella; fell in love... and prepaid to adopt her. She can pick her up tomorrow. She has the perfect set up, time, and experience to handle Bella. I think Bella is really going to be happy and settle into her new home and that's all I ever wanted her to have... something I wouldn't have been able to do if I hadn't found your website. Thanks, Jodi Cope

Hello! Panda did indeed find a new home through your wonderful organization. I had originally listed her on Craig's List but to no avail. I had gotten calls from people who seemed to have 'stumbled' on her listing and I had concerns about the home they would provide for her. What I loved about your site - people had to make a choice to visit and clearly went to the trouble to do their research - that gave us so much more confidence when we finally got a call from a user of 'rescue Me.' Amazingly, we had run out of time trying to find Panda a loving home. Sadly we had made the decision just yesterday to bring her to the Humane Society with the hope that they could find her a home. 24 hours later I got a call from one of your users - I explained that they were too late and Panda was no longer in our care. The family seemed so lovely and so interested in providing her a forever home... we decided to go back to the Humane Society to get Panda and we arranged to meet her new family tonight. They took her home and I am so sure they will over her as we do. Thank you for all that you do 'rescue me'!!! Susan

He is good with our other pyr we have had for 9 years that was on the noon time news wral channel 5. We have had 6 Pyrenees our first was Mokwaw and we have had a Pyrenees in our home since the 70's. We are going to enjoy having Duke in our home. My wife and I are both retired and have lot of time to groom and love our guys. The Ferch family we got Duke from was sad to see him leave but it was for the best for all concerned. They gave us information on Duke's health and a little information on his background. Duke has been with us just 6 days and has adopted us and is truly a love bug. He is very trustworthy and will enjoy our many walks around our neighborhood. Thank you for the service your team has provided and have given these gentle giants. thanks again to you and your team, Louis & Mariann Jacobs

Jeff, at the beginning the website was a little confusing so I posted our bird twice, one with a picture and one without. That is usually the case when someone visits a site for the first time. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the responses we got. Lots of great people interested in the bird an all very interested in giving our bird a great home. It was a difficult decision for us as to who was more worthy and caring. Last evening we had the finalist at the house for a meeting and she and the bird hit it off. My wife and I are comfortable with Boo Boo's new home. We are just entering retirement and want to travel in the US and abroad and had no one to care for our bird and there are not too many worthy sitters. This, we think was in the best interest of Boo Boo. The person adopting is in our city so we can visit after our travels. Thanks for your wonderful website and the help and peace of mind it gave us.      Jeff, Thurby was adopted by a wonderful older couple from Ohio who saw him posted on Rescue Me. Since then, I have received two other inquiries regarding Thurby. As heart breaking as it is in having to give a beloved pet of six (6) year up (in my case my 3 year old granddaughter who came to live with me was highly allergic), thank goodness there was some place I could turn to and try to find him a good home on my own. When I realized I was going to have to give him up, the thought of taking him to a animal shelter devastated me. I tried Papillon Rescue and it took me directly to Rescue Me. Within two days I had this older couple who were begging me not to give him to anyone else, they wanted him that badly. I still miss Thurby every day but at least I know he's in a loving environment with people who really wanted him and went out of their way to get him. Giving Thurby up was probably one of the hardest things I ever one but while he was confused he wasn't traumatized. The last picture I have in my mind of Thurby was him being held, loved on and kissed by a very sweet lady who thought he was the most beautiful dog she had ever seen. Feel free to post my comments. When my daughter and granddaughter are able to get on their feet and into a home of their own and I no longer have to worry about allergic reactions, I'll be back to Rescue Me for happier reasons - looking for a new best friend. Nancy

Dear Jeff, Rescue Me came through beautifully for me and my poodle. After she was diagnosed with epilepsy, I found myself unable to provide sufficient care for her because I live alone and work long hours. Devastated, I contacted shelters and rescue groups in addition to posting an ad for my girl on Rescue Me's site, and it was through your site that I found her new parents within 12 hours. (I was incredibly lucky that the first people who called were the best candidates). I completely underestimated Rescue Me's reach -- inquiries came in fast, and I was able to find the most lovely, sincere couple who was willing to take on my poodle and her epilepsy. I could not have wished for a better outcome or nicer new parents for my dog. I would absolutely recommend Rescue Me to everybody. Thank you so much for this resource; you can't imagine the relief it's brought me to know that my poodle is with good people. The process happened so quickly, too! I will absolutely make a donation, as Rescue Me really came through for me in my hour of need. Best wishes, Alice White

Hi Jeff, I found your website to be exactly what pets all over the nation need! A central clearinghouse if you will, for good people trying to do the right thing for their animals. Feel free to use my comments. I was amazed at the quick responses, and yes, Junior is now in the hands of a neighbor down my street. She has a Golden Retriever and a Lab, both of whom Junior plays with on a regular basis. Now he gets to do it full time! She loves Junior and has teenagers who will enjoy his energy more than my elderly cat does. Your website is thorough, easy to navigate, and allows confidential inquiries. I will use it again if I'm in a position to adopt an animal. Thank you for what you do. I made a small donation. Sorry it isn't more. Keep up the good work. Thank you, Karen

Jeff, I was contacted 2-3-2012 in the morning by Gary Sauerbrei who resided 7 miles from my home wondering if I still had my shih tzu for adoption, I said I did and he mentioned they had a dog pass away and their other dog was lonely. Gary said his wife would be getting off work in the afternoon and would contact me if tonight would work for them and me to see Jacks. I said I would be around to call me back. Gary called back within 20 minutes and said his wife wanted Jacks, without his wife even looking at Jacks she wanted Jacks. Gary called about 1 1/2 hours before scheduled to pick up Jacks to get directions to my home. I spoke with Gary probably 15 minutes on the phones and I new this would be a work for Jacks. Gary and Connie showed up as scheduled and it did take some time for my dogs to settle down and accept a stranger in our home. Jacks warmed up to Connie much faster than Gary, and then I finally suggest for Gary to take off his stocking cap and that made Jacks accept Gary a lot easier. My husband doesn't wear a stocking cap and that has bothered Jacks before when visitors stop at our home. Before long Jacks was sitting next to Connie and was warming up to Gary much better. Gary and Connie left with Jacks, and I called after 2 hours of separating from Jacks and things are going GREAT at Jacks new home. His new home has another Shih Tzu and a fenced in yard, which was a must for our dear Jacks, our dogs are our 'kids.' My husband and I couldn't be happier for the pleasant move for Jacks and are comfortable Jacks will adjust to his new home with Gary and Connie. Thanks to Rescue Me site and helping us find a happy home for Jacks. Kristie Leistikow

Pandora came up on my email first thing in the morning and when I read about her, I just knew she was the one I'd been hoping to find! It was just a matter of patience, but I emailed her owner and told her that I had owned a Bull Terrier when I was growing up and had him in 4H and trained him to show and that my mother has always saved on to his memory and said that she would never own another dog unless it was a Bull Terrier. I explained she is retired now and would like to see her have a companion and something to take care of. I got a response right back and answered some of my preliminary questions and later that night I showed my mother her picture and told her all about her and she was thrilled at the thought of getting her. We called the owner and spoke directly to her and made arrangements to meet and then hopefully take Pandora within a few days. We have had her for three weeks and she has been a perfect fit! Pandora adapted well, right from the start and my mother spoils her to death. My son and I stop over every day and play with her and then once a week she will be going through class to learn agility with our Board Collie (who is her newest best friend!) She is just PERFECT! I am so glad you have your website and I like how it is displayed. I feel for some many of the animals and just want to adopt them all. But since I know I cant, I am thankful for those that take them in and give them a temporary home until a forever home can be found. Thank you for this service, I share it on facebook often!      Hi Jeff, Oden was adopted yesterday. He left with his new family all the way in Indiana from our home in WI.. I can't believe the amount of interest that we had in Oden. Frankly I had a difficult time keeping up with the who did I contact and who didn't I? We received responses as far away as New Jersey for our little man. In total I had 23 on a list waiting to see if they would get to have a shot. My philosophy was if it is a fit with the first contact that is his home. We were not going to meet everyone an then choose. that would have been too painful. This worked out perfect. I met the most incredible people. One of the hardest things I have had to do was give up our little man but it was met with compassion and understanding from everyone I have been involved with. I will be happy to donate. Anything else I can help with I would love to. I don't know if you need any website assistance but if you do, I could help you with that. Anything at all. Really like to give back to a wonderful organization. You have an excellent service... The weight on my shoulders has been lifted and my heart knows he will love his new forever home. Kelly LaTour

Hello Jeff, MJ and Spot BOTH found a new forever home together! The lady that adopted them as so sweet and so nice! I was SO happy to feel so comfortable with her! I am the kind of person that gets very attached to my pets and it becomes very hard for me to let an animal go. When I first posted them on RescueMe.org I wasn't sure how well this whole thing was going work and rather or not I would REALLY be ok letting my pet go to a total stranger! But I was SO comfortable with the lady who adopted them! The first time we spoke on the phone we called for OVER an hour! We chatted a few other times over the weekend before setting up a time and a meeting place. She brought along her daughter who was so excited to be picking up her new pets! It made me really happy to see that they were going to be loved and well taken care of! I think your site is so wonderful! Thank you so much! Ginger

Dear Jeff, Luke has been adopted. It was a very tough decision for me to have to put him up for adoption. My husband and I have separated a few months ago and since then I have been working two jobs. There are days that I am gone over 16 hours, which left Luke home alone and no one to let him out. During these long days Luke would have no choice but to have accidents in the house. Plus he started to find things and chew them up. He is the perfect dog when I am home. That is why it was so hard for me to come to this decision to find him another home. Your site is wonderful. I had so many inquiries about him. There were many people who would have taken him. It was a very difficult choice for me to make. But I feel that I found the perfect home for Luke. The Dad works from home and Luke will not be left alone. I am so grateful to everyone who emailed, texted or called me about Luke. He is now in his new home and I know will thrive with his new family! Thank you for your website. You are doing a great and needed service for people in need of relocating or accepting their 'family member.' Bless you! Sincerely, Nancy Walker

Dear Mr. Gold, I could not have found her a better home on my own! The woman that has adopted her is the best person for my baby. I didn't want to have to find her a new home in the first place but due to moving it was a necessity. Reese is now with a wonderful person who can give her the undivided attention that she truly deserves that I couldn't give her. She is pampered and spoiled rotten and it warms my heart to know that she is in a home where she is so happy! Thanks to your site this was possible! Thank you so much! Have a blessed day, Natalie

I tried several years to open a shelter for all dogs and was put down by the state for not having a building. I only had 3 acres, but every animal had a house, food and vet care. I was a 501c3 also, but did not receive very many donations and lost my house. I think what you are doing is great and wish I had had the opportunity to do that with my shelter. At least, I got 40 dogs adopted in 8 months, so that makes me feel good. I have 3 dogs now in town and it is hard because 2 are rotts and the neighbors are scared. We are working very hard to change the opinion of rotts in our neighborhood. Thank you, Angela

Hi Jeff. Cocoa did find a new home and I have been suggesting your site to other people I know. I am a member of the PAWS group below, they have a site through Petfinder which I also think is wonderful but someone who is not in a group to post an ad I personally found that posting on RescueMe.org was much easier. I found it super easy to use and the fact that I could go back in and edit was great. What I found on the petfinder site was that I had to delete the whole ad and repost.... Thank you so much for making your site I really do love it! We also found the most awesome home ever for our Weimaraner Rocky and we were looking at several English pointers on your site. I also spent a couple hours with my co-workers looking at all your information and pictures of different breeds and I didn't think of it before but I will recommend to the PAWS group that they post on your site as well. I posted both the dogs I re-homed on both sites and got more responses from RescueMe.org each time... Great Job Jeff! Carol James.

Good morning Jeff, Thank you for the follow up. Yes Kitty was adopted by the first family to contact us. We were contacted by 4 families with in just a few days of posting Kitty. I stumbled onto RescueMe.org by happenstance. It is a WONDERFUL page and so very easy to use. I have even suggested it's use to a few of the local rescues. The adoptive family did make a rescue donation to me and I will be splitting that between your organization and another rescue that was helping us to place Kitty. I have marked your page on Facebook so it can be referred to easily. I live on a farm so pets are always finding their way to us, not to mention people gravitate to me to help in re-homing their pets or animals they have found. I am sure I will be using your organization in the future. Thank you so very much. Sharla Mahoney Second hand animals make first class pets. Adopt don't Shop.

Dear Jeff, Just to update you, one of our two puppies was placed with a new family. I had heard that Weims were high energy, but I had no clue what I was getting into with two (sibling) puppies. We went back and forth on whether to keep one, or both, or give them both up. We finally decided that we'd wait and watch. We had two or three responses, the last one we were asked if we'd consider splitting them up. We decided if the situation was right we would. Well, Schautzie met her new family and it was better than I could ever have hoped! It was a win-win situation for everyone. Her new family got their new puppy and we got to keep one too. I'm so happy with the results! We got to be particular about who she went to, and we were very impressed with how well things turned out. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Jill

Hello Jeff, I did find a home for my little girl Carly. I had put her on a few other sites with no bites. My mother in law said see if you can find any sites that deal with Cocker Spaniel's. When I did a search your site came up so I put up an ad and within one day I had a wonderful woman who wanted to have her. She came up this past Saturday and picked her up, it was hard to say good-bye but I have health issues that made it hard for me to care for her and give her what she needed. I have kept in contact with the new owner to see how Carly is handling being in a new home, she has said she seems a tad confused but is enjoy running around. Which was one thing I was lacking I lived in a condo. She has sent pictures and Carly looks like she's very happy. Makes me feel wonderful that someone with such a big heart has taken our girl and has given her such a wonderful place to live. Thank you so much for your site. Without it I have know idea where are girl would have ended up. Kari Schneider

I've had a very good experience with RescueMe.Org...I have had wire fox terriers for over 30 years and my last two have been rescues. I always check to see if there are any in the San Diego Area and one day searching my net for rescues, I found yours. I have three wire fox terriers, one 15, one 9 adopted, and one 7 adopted. On your site Abby came up and it was a courtesy listing, but it pulled my heartstrings that she needed a home, because she had lost hers and had to go to an apartment. To make it even worse, when I contacted the lady, she had just been in a car accident and had to board Abby for a extended length of time and has a pretty big bill to pay. I went to see her today at the kennel/boarding and she was adorable! I donated some money for her care there, and brought her home, gave her a bath, and she gets along with my dogs just beautifully. She will need dental work and vet check, so I'll have to wait to give you a donation, but as soon as I can, I will. Thank you so much for all you do. Valerie McKay

RescueMe was the answer to our prayers - literally!! My mother had two papillons she could no longer care for and we were lost as to what/how to find them new homes. I posted their information on RescueMe and within a few hours we had multiple inquiries about meeting our little Papillons. It was absolutely unbelievable how well everything turned out - we got to interview/talk with the interested new families to make sure it would be a good fit. The experience was personal, casual, and was exactly what we needed. Within a day we found the Perfect New Home for our Papillons. Most importantly this experience and method of connecting with the adopted parents was completely unique in that it allowed us to meet the new parents, and make sure that they were going to the right home!! I can't say enough about this experience. We have been emailing back and forth with the lady who adopted our Papillons, and get updates on how they are adjusting - and I am pleased to say they adjusted perfectly and are getting spoiled with love and treats:) Thank you RescueMe for being the tool to finding our sweet Papillons a new home where they are loved and adored - exactly what we wanted!!! Thanks, Kelly and Family

Hello Jeff, I am so thankful for your website. Every animal that I have been able to post on your site has found a loving forever home. The reason it means so very much to me is that ALL of the animals that I have posted would have been in danger of being euthanized if I couldn't find homes for them. I am so excited to see so many people looking at RescueMe.org to adopt these loving animals instead of going to pet stores and some breeders to get their pets. Thank you for supporting all of us who are trying to make a difference in these animals lives. I sleep so much better at night because of the RescueMe site and the wonderful people who have saved my best little four paw friends. I don't have a lot of extra money but I have made a donation and will continue to try to make more. Keep up the good work and Bless you. Warm Regards, Laura Moore Homeward Bound Animal Rescue

Hi Jeff, Tink did find a WONDERFUL new home! I couldn't be happier with the family that adopted Tink as I know she will have lots of love and attention!! Putting my baby up for adoption was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do!! I was not happy with our decision, but I knew it was the best decision for Tink. I work full time and my husband is a full time student and part time stay at home dad. We had a great set-up when he was only in school 2 days a week (for only a few hours) and home the rest of the time, but when his schedule changed and he was going to be gone the majority of the day for 4 days a week we knew Tink would be miserable! As much as I didn't want to put her up for adoption I knew deep down she needed a family who could give her more attention than we were going to be able to give. I had about 8 families contact me regarding Tink and some of them seemed perfect!! I actually met with 4 of the families and decided on a military family stationed at Ft. Belvoir. They have a 3 year old Weime and wanted a play mate for him. Tink and Baron hit it off right from the start - I knew at that second Tink had found her new home!! RescueMe made this as easy as it could be! I read all the articles about making sure you pick the right family for your pup and found them very helpful! I will absolutely be donating some money to this organization and will be sure to forward this onto Tink's new mommy and daddy as I'm sure they'll be happy to donate as well. Thank you so much for all that you do in helping families find puppies and for helping those families who have the unfortunate experience of having to put up their own baby for adoption! Take care, Becky

Hi Jeff, I am with Central Ohio Pomeranian Rescue, I list my poms that are for adoption on your site as well as subscribe to any new listings for pomeranian's in all states. A couple weeks ago i saw a listing for Tripp, he was in GA and his owner was no longer able to keep him, when she got him a few weeks before he had a hip fracture from a previous injury, she was not able to afford the surgery for his leg. We offered to try to raise the funds to have his leg operated on, but she said her other 2 poms were not getting along with him that well so she wouldn't be able to keep him. I asked one of my faithful volunteers, Pamela, to assist with arrangements to get the little guy to our rescue in Ohio. We contacted Liberty Train, a volunteer transport group and told them about Tripp's situation, they assisted with coordinating his transport, he started his journey Sat 1/14 at 7am, 12 hours and several volunteers and legs later, i met the last volunteer in Dayton, OH to pick up the little guy. He is a precious little lovable guy and everyone that met him fell in love! Tripp goes to our vet on Tuesday to have his leg x-rayed and evaluated, we are praying that his leg can be saved and frantically trying to raise the funds for his surgery. I am so grateful to Tripp's owner for reaching out for help, and for all the volunteers that stepped up to help this rescue happen. Your site has been so helpful to us, not only for getting our dogs adopted, but for monitoring other listings and reaching out to owners to assist them with placement for poms they have listed. I will be happy to make a small donation to your site, i wish it could be more, but we are struggling with vet bills, and not sure what the expense will be for Tripp's surgery. Keep up the great work! Kim Griffith - Ray Central Ohio Pomeranian Rescue

Hi Jeff, Thank you for contacting me. Unfortunately I cannot donate anything right now. I donate my time to no-kill shelters in lieu of monetary donations because I am underemployed and have student loans to pay off. However, I would love to tell you about my experience using Rescue Me!. Before using Rescue Me! I had posted my Uromastyx, Darwin, for adoption on Craigslist, and no one had contacted me. I asked around, called around, and Googled reptile rescues and found Rescue Me!. Posting Darwin for adoption on Rescue Me! was very easy and I received an email the day after I posted him. The man informed me that his fourteen year old son wanted a lizard and this was his favorite so they would like to adopt him. I replied and gave him my phone number and told him to call me if he had any questions. He called me the next day and we spoke on the phone for a while. I explained why I was adopting Darwin out so it was important that he went to a good home. I had Darwin and another Uromastyx, Huxley, for about five years. They had never fought, but when I moved to Chicago from Ohio Darwin began becoming aggressive to Huxley, and I could no longer bear to see Huxley being bitten everyday. He told me that his sons had gone to animal-handling classes for about two years, so I felt comfortable adopting Darwin out to him. He also lived in another suburb of Chicago, so I was also glad I would not have to ship him or worry about him traveling long distances. He and his son came to pick up Darwin a couple days later. I am very satisfied with my experience using Rescue Me!. It was quick, efficient, and most important, trustworthy. Thank you so much for your service! Feel free to use my comments, I would recommend your service to anyone looking to adopt reptiles. Megan Kough

Jeff, Rescue Me has been a great help in finding new homes for four of our rescued horses Shorty, Art, Little Man, and Bella. At the start of last summer I got a phone call for the HSSM in Gulfport Mississippi needing to find a place to keep 9 horses from another rescue that a guy had bought. The guy had no clue about horses never brought feed or had anything to do with them. After only a month he stopped even coming out or calling to check on them. They all needed a lot of weight put on and need some serious love. My husband and I got them up to weight and started half of them under saddle. With the help of your site we've been able to put half of them so far into great homes. I have 3 more that still need to find the right people for them and I still have high hopes that we will be able to find the right ones for the right horses. Sheena

Hi Jeff, A super family from North Carolina had recently lost a puppy due to complications from spaying surgery. They saw Kasey & Kye on your website and came to see them yesterday. They have 2 great youngsters, a little boy who is 7 and a little girl who is 4. It was love at first sight for them all and they all piled up in their minivan and headed home to the North Carolina country. This was really tough for me since I had never had to find a home for pups I'd picked out to be in my forever home. Our 8 year old blue heeler just would not tolerate them no matter what we tried (and we were really creative) we ran them on our farm, took them camping at the lake & swimming every weekend, socialized, them all together with cats, other dogs, kids and adults but the 8 year old never came around. I come to accept that it was better for the young pups to go to a home without constantly being grumbled at was just the right thing to do. With a heavy heart, I found your website and the rest is history. We had a great happy ending. I wish everyone using your website has this type of experience. Respectfully, Bonnie Miller

Jeff- Hiro was adopted by a WONDERFUL older gentleman on a farm that had lost his own Akita to diabetes last March. You wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) what an incredible blessing this has been for EVERYONE. The gentleman had been on numerous sites trying to find the perfect Akita for him but was unable to find one due to a mixture of personality differences and being unable to pay the very high prices for a better bred Akita (Hiro is AKC, but I asked for absolutely NO rehoming fee in exchange for my being able to strictly interview potentials). I refused several interested parties but when Hiro and I met him at his farm I instantly knew 'this was it.' It has been almost a week now and I cried when I learned today how great Hiro's day-to-day is now compared to before. I'm a single full time student that ended up recently needing to get two jobs to make ends meet, so he was constantly cooped up in the house, alone. Now he is on a farm with cows, llamas, another dog, and an owner that is almost always home and who truly loved Hiro from the moment they met. This site has been a true answer to my AND that gentleman's prayers. He held out for the perfect Akita for him, and I held out for the perfect owner for Hiro, and RescueMe! made it so we found each other. Thank you thank you. I'll be setting up a monthly contribution for a year tonight to help make sure this wonderful service keeps going. -Samantha Tracy

Dear Jeff, Justice was adopted this morning. While it broke my heart, I felt confident that he was gaining a loving new family who also have two others of his breed. His new home is warm, and very pet friendly. My experience... WOW! I am absolutely pleased to say that I found Rescue Me extremely helpful. I did not want to put Justice in a shelter nor the SPCA for fear of what could happen to him. Your site was one of the first to come up when I searched 'Shih Tzu Rescue.' No sooner had I posted his picture and information, I immediately began receiving phone calls and email inquiries from all over. Happily, one of the callers (now his new mom) is located approximately 4 miles from my home and she extended an invitation for me to visit when I wanted. In short, 'Rescue Me' works... and I would recommend anyone looking to find a home and/or to adopt a pet to view your site. Thank you, thank you for the work you are doing. I will be happily remitting my donation to help you continue doing what I feel is a valuable and much needed service. God Bless You Jeff Gold. Sincerely, JEAN RICE Live Simply... Love Generously...      Hi Jeff! Zooey has had SO much popularity, that she's had two really good homes to go to, and we've decided on one of those families, and we're working it out with that couple here in Norfolk, so we don't need it on the website anymore. I'm so happy for that! I always saw myself as her foster owner, and I'm SO happy I saved her from her previous living conditions (which caused her three broken bones in her paw in the first place). It's so cool that it's only been a week of time looking for a home, and really only less than 24 hours since I've been trying to contact some people back. This website is the only one I used to find a home for her, I love how it sent email alerts to people, and had different niches of people as she's a husky/shepherd mix, that those people looking for one or both types of dog were notified. This website worked out even better than I ever imagined. I know she's cute and young, which makes her highly desirable, but this website has been able to get out the word that I've been contacted by a lot of people, so I'm able to pick the best home for her! I couldn't be happier! I will definitely remember this website for any other placement homes. Thanks for having it be free for us to use (as I didn't ask for any adoption fees for her since I just want a good home for her and she has costs coming to the owner)! I look forward to donating when I can. I will definitely keep donating in mind when we have the funds to do so. Currently, I have spent money on Zooey to find her a good home, so I'm happy to have been able to help, even just one puppy. Thank you again! This is a great website I found at the top of a google search when looking for 'husky rescue.' Take Care, Jaimee

Hobo has been adopted, and I just removed him the listing from your web-site. He was adopted from an Albuquerque, New Mexico dalmatian rescue person's home, where he was transferred about 2 or 3 months ago. The lady who had the dog was an excellent foster caretaker for dalmatians, and asked that I leave the posting up so that people could be referred to her, as she had other dalmatians in need of homes. She took care of Hobo (I later called him Sparky) for some time because he needed a good bit of nurturing and socialization prior to permanent placement. I appreciate your website. This is the first time I have ever tried to rescue and find a home for a dog, and I have been very gratified at the extremely helpful and humane resources available through which to do this. I at first tried to personally find a home for the dog, but when I encountered your web site and a local animal rescue person, I realized that it was in the dog's best interests to be placed in a foster home that would nurture him until the right person or family could be found. I was even told that if for some reason a placement did not work out, the foster home would take the dog back until the right home could be found. Today I will place a check for $25.00 in the mail to the address below. I appreciate the service that your web site provides. Judy Bennett

Hi Jeff, I am happy to report that Maggie will be living in a wonderful foster home with people who work exclusively with Bull mastiffs, can properly care for her and have the resources and expertise to find the perfect home for her. It's great that you provide a platform where individuals can post along-side shelters and rescues. This allowed a breed-specific rescue to offer their assistance to me. Without any experience in screening prospective adopters, I was really worried about placing Maggie in the wrong hands. After posting on your site, I received immediate responses but more importantly, I was put in touch with people who devote themselves to helping animals in need. Most people like myself, might not realize that there are organizations out there that will drive hundreds of miles for a dog in need. One doesn't have to settle with a less than ideal placement just because it's close. Networking is a lifesaver for homeless animals. Thank you for providing this invaluable service. We have a large Border collie our daughter is caring for for us but, Rex would have nothing to do with him or any other dog or cat. He is King. The family that adopted him had a mom that worked at home and the cutest 3 year old. Rex fell in love with the child took his toy, his blankie, kissed us goodbye and left. I will send donation later.      Zeke did find a very good new home, an older man adopted him on Friday, and I think that it is going to be a very good fit for both of them. By the time we left, Zeke was giving him kisses, which made us feel so much better about the decision that we made to find him a new home. I had never heard about your site before, but decided to go ahead and post him, since we had already had no luck with local Craigslist, and other local advertising. Within a day or two, I got a phone call from a very nice man, who over the past 30 years or so has raised and lived with 9 other Chihuahuas, and was looking for a new best friend. Zeke was a little reluctant at first when we got to the meeting spot, but since he is such a little socialite, he went to him to check him out. I think that it was love at first sight, the man was very happy with Zeke, and Zeke seemed very happy with him. Thank you for the sight, because without it, Zeke may not have found his forever home that is going to spoil him rotten. Thank you for the site. Krista

Jeff, We adopted our new dog, 'Lucky,' from a family who, with a heavy heart, had to find a new home for him. I exchanged emails with the owner to learn more about Lucky and decide if he could be the right dog for my husband and me. We lost our wonderful dog last year at age 15 and he was a flat-coated retriever mix, too. Three weeks ago we traveled about an hour to meet Lucky with the hopes of taking him home with us. It was love at first sight and there were a few tears shed as we drove away with him. Lucky is adapting well, with the exception of a few minor trials and tribulations, but we're quickly becoming a family as we get to know each other better. We continue to correspond with Lucky's former family with updates and pictures. They are delighted to hear how he is doing and it has helped comfort them and put their minds at ease. It was just by chance that I happened upon your website and what a blessing it turned out to be! Sandy

Hello Jeff, I did find a lovely home for my Bamba using your wonderful and brilliant website RescueMe.Org. There were many potential homes for Bamba and I had communicated with many people requesting him, but was finally able to find the perfect couple and home for him. The couple has a quiet and wonderful home in Tampa with another little dog and two friendly and lovable cats. I was so certain about this being the right decision that I drove along with my best friend for two and a half hours to meet with them. They did the same to meet me halfway. When I finally met them I felt in my heart and soul that they were the perfect match. They even called me when he got home to confirm that the trip turned out o.k. and he was very safe and adapting well to his new friends and home. They promised to maintain contact and send me pictures. Even though I miss him with all my heart and I cannot stop thinking about him, I am absolutely certain I made the right decision for him. I know he is in a better place with people that can give him all the love, security, happiness, and attention he deserves. Thank you for such a wonderful website! I don't know what I would've done without it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful pet or caught up in the unfortunate and sad decision to have to give up their pet. It is probably one of the most difficult situations one can ever have to face, but your website makes it easier for you to pick the perfect match for a new family by having so many options of finding the perfect home. Thank you again! Sincerely, Gabriella Vassallo

Hi Jeff, The main reason for using 'Rescue me GSD' was that I knew that the only people searching this site would be the people who knew and cared for German Shepherds and I got so many responses. But I must admit even then I was reluctant to let him go as he is such a special dog to me. Just when I was about to lose hope I was contacted by a wonderful lady and immediately just knew that this was the home where Duke was meant to go. Even though I miss him, I am comforted by knowing that he has found a loving, caring home thanks to your website. Thank you so much for having this site where animal lovers can find homes for their beloved pets without fear. Forever grateful, Theresa

Jeff, Rescue Me has been great. We now have used the organization twice. We got Tess (purebred mutt) and Buck (English Setter) through the organization. My experience has been positive if not heartbreaking. Tess was close to being euthanized because no one wanted to adopt her. Both dogs had been severely beaten by previous owners. Buck's previous owner spoke on the state Buck was in when he brought him home. It was sad. His old owner did a great job rehabilitating him but 12 hour work days and living in town was not healthy for a setter. It's sad because people want a dog because it's 'cute' and then realize that they are in way over their heads once the pup gets home. I am fortunate that we have a 120 acre playground that Tess and Buck both enjoy and living at the lake they get plenty of water time in the summer. They definitely are loving life now. I wish more pet owners realize the damage they are doing with their animals and change the circumstances. Or even better, researching a dog before rescuing. Jeff

Dear Jeff, My experience with Rescue Me! was phenomenal! The bird we had was no longer getting the attention a family pet should, my daughter had gone off to school and it was left to me to take care of. It took me a long time to search something out. I was at the State Fair and I came across a booth for bird rescue. I spoke to a lady and jokingly said something like... do you want another one?? When I got around to seriously wanting to give the bird away I could no longer find her card, so I googled 'bird rescue' and found Rescue Me! I listed my bird and within 8 hours I had 7 people who wanted him. It was amazing. I took the one who was closest to me, for my convenience and I can happily say my bird has a good new home with someone who will love and care for him like he deserves! Thanks you so much for this service! I will tell anyone I know about it! Kara Crawford

Dear Mr. Jeff, She has been on the site for several months. I did get e-mails about her and I made contact with all of them. One man if Lafayette Louisiana was just about to get her then he had to go in the hospital. A local person wanted her and then THANKFULLY I heard From a wonderful guy named James McCormack. He drove all the way from Texarkana to meet her. He wanted to be sure she liked him. SHE MOST DEFINITELY DID and we fell in love with him. He wanted to go home get ready for her then get her when he had several days off to be with her. When he was getting in his car she got away from the man holding her and ran to him and sat next to his feet just as he was stepping into his vehicle. We all laughed and said 'she wants to go with you.' It was a priceless moment. I will meet him in Shreveport on Tuesday and Miss Monroe will have a new Forever Guy. So your site DID get her out there and got me 5 contacts. Thank you very much. I will make a contribution. What you and your viewers did not see is the shape Miss Monroe was in before I got her on your site. I will send you some photos. She is absolutely gorgeous now and will be in a wonderful home thanks to Rescue Me. Thank you so much Mr. Jeff. Your efforts gave an abandoned starving creature the opportunity for a wonderful new life. Sincerely, Juanita Murphy

Meme found just the right person. I feel so thankful that she understood exactly what she was in for, but took the challenge head on to make sure everyone was happy. It is so important to be honest about what kind of problems your dog is having, and if the dog is aggressive and possessive, it is your obligation to tell it as it is. There are so many wonderful people who can take these dogs and understand what is missing in their lives and give them what they need. I felt so guilty about having to give her up, due to her being alpha female and intimidating and attacking my female senior English Mastiff. I so appreciate the neopolitan mastiff rescue for what they stand for and are successfully doing. I also want to thank the lady from Charleston, West Virginia who gave Meme a second chance.

Brutus was adopted awhile back but I left his site up as I had many calls about him and knew of a couple other available boxers I could tell them about. I occasionally foster boxers for rehoming and love using your site. When people call and ask if I can help them locate a specific type of dog, always check your site first. Brutus went to a wonderful forever home. He is with a family who lost their previous rescued boxer to old age and their daughter had left for college with her dog, leaving them with a large cabin home, lots of land and no dog. They have spoiled him and I still receive updates and can visit with him. He goes on regular hikes and is the only dog and no kids, so he is the center of their world. It is wonderful. I also posted another male boxer, Max, that I was fostering and he too found a wonderful home with a father and adult son as an only dog with no children. He, too, is the center of their attention. They provide him with companionship and acres of yard with an electric fence to run and exercise freely. They too are also still in contact. I have given the website information to several local people here, who were either looking for a pet or fostering pets to rehome. Thank you so much for such a wonderful site to use. I ran across it by accident, but it has been a blessing. Again, thank you so much. Amber

Hi Jeff, I am happy to say that Casey is happily in a new home! I am sorry to say that I did hesitate in deleting his profile, I just forgot. He has been in his home a couple months. I got a letter from Anna, his new Mommy, and he is doing absolutely fantastically! Its so great, it's like he was born for them! I was so happy to be able to bring them together, and save him from the pound. I had no intention of allowing that to be his fate, and thanks to Rescue Me, I was able to find him a home that is so perfect for him it's a literal canine dream come true! Thank you so much for your help. Thanks to Rescue Me a wonderful beautiful puppy can have a long happy life with a wonderful family. They had suffered a loss of an older dog who had passed away, and Casey was the answer to their prayers too, so it was a blessing for both families. I am now looking to adopt a dog off Rescue me who is older, calmer and being older would have a harder time finding a home. So before it's all said and done, Rescue Me will have helped three families, all by initially helping one. Thanks so much! Amanda Flowers, Casey's first Mommy.

Dixie did get a new home. She was on the site for only a short while when a couple from Montana inquired. They drove 3 states to get her. Of course, the kids were upset, but the couple really went out of there way to make the kids comfortable with the transfer. They send my kids emails of her about every month or so and we are sure that she is spoiled rotten. We are sure that she is in a really great forever home. The site is easy to navigate and apparently works well. If I need it I will use it again. I wish there was one for every breed. Sincerely, Geanna

Jeff, Thank you so much for providing such a great service for helping us find new permanent homes for our two great danes. We had multiply replies to our postings within days of them being active on your site, and we had new homes for both of them within 2 months. I really do not think we could have found them both loving homes so quickly without the help of your service. We have made a donation for your group so you can continue to make your service available for others who may need it. Love and light. Lee Ann Odom

We were heart broken to see her go but with a family illness taking so much time and energy to manage, it was unkind to keep shorting her. Yours was the only website we posted Harley on and it only took a short time to find her a great home. We're thrilled and thank you for your hard work and dedication to this awesome breed.      Hi Jeff, I originally called about Farley for one of my employees. I have a pet boarding facility in Warner Robins. She wanted a red merle standard aussie because I have a toy blue merle that comes to work with my every day and she loves her. I told her I would find her one that needed to be rescued. I called the man that had Farley and talked to him. Farley had a very sad background. The man that posted him had rescued him from a man that chained him to a tree and beat him. Because of this, many of his teeth are broken. Anyway, this man that rescued him could no longer take care of him due to personal circumstances. Well, it turned out that the lady that works for me couldn't take him. I couldn't not go get him, so I decided to keep him myself. His name is now Griffin. He is a wonderful dog. He is now neutered, utd on his shots, and has been tested for heartworms. He was negative for the heartworms which greatly surprised me!!! He's getting adjusted to my other dogs - an 11 yr. old lab, Phoebe; a ten yr. old aussie/golden mix, Lucy; a 10 yr. old pekignese, Herman; and, of course, my little bundle of energy, Addie, a 1 1/2 yr. old toy aussie. Griffin is approximately 5. Animals are my heart and soul. They all live in my house with me. I put their needs before my own. The majority of my happiness comes from my four-legged children. Thank you so much for this email. I will put a donation in the mail to you. I was more than willing to give Griffin's former owner a fee for him, but he said he only wanted to find him a good home. Believe me, he has done that. How many animals do you house at your place? I would love to see it one day. Take care and God bless you for all you do for these babies. Sheila

Whiskey found a home using rescue me. I have been praying every night to find him a good home where he is safe. With my neighbors, he just wasn't safe and it made me sick when I wasn't right there with him to keep him safe. I got an email from Claire using rescue me and she asked to take him for the weekend, thank goodness he behaved for her! She emailed me today to let me know he is doing really good and is getting along with her other bluetick very well. She also lives quite close and said I am free to visit him and see how he is doing. I am so glad I found him a good home. I didn't want to give him up, but it was the last choice I had, for him. And his well being is what matters most to me. I see Whiskey as my son, he is all I had when times were rough and he could always make me smile. I love him to death, I feel like I owe him this and I am so glad I had a great site to help me give this to him. Thank you! Khylie Taylor

Hello Jeff, my experience was good. I'm not sure how I got on the e-mail but it was meant to be. We lost our rottie mix in September we went on vacation which we never have for years. She died 2 days before we got home. I was heart sick. A month later I got an e-mail from rescue alert and I clicked on to find a rottie/mix female same age same weight and the same Name! The only difference is Gina 2 has a tail. She even looks like her , its really something. We will give her a great life. She was not sent to replace my other dog she was sent because she needed us. Thank you Virginia Francis (3 rotts again).

Hi, I did find a home for Max. He's been in his new home for a week and a half so far. I actually had several responses to my add which surprised me. Many were willing to travel over 300 miles just to meet him. I was only throwing it out there one day after Max was injured. Max went to an 80 yo woman who didn't want a puppy but wanted company after her husband died 6 months ago. She brought her whole family down to meet Max to make sure he was a good fit. I offered to take Max back if there were any issues but as of right now I believe they are very pleased with him.

Hi Jeff, Dude was indeed adopted. The story is quite miraculous. One night I was walking home from a friends house in a nearby neighborhood...it was late. This lady was unpacking her van and we spoke and somehow struck up a conversation... A topic on dogs NEVER came up. About a few weeks later after posting Dude on the site, I got a reply from a woman really interested in adopting Dude... Lo and behold! It was the same lady I met that night when I was walking! (goose bumps!) We hugged and cried about the coincidence! Her name is Maria (as she introduced herself to me that night.) I know that this is something that would not typically happen outside of a miracle. Because of your website, Dude is in a very loving home! I would recommend this site to anyone who has a Dachshund that needs a good home because it seems that this site genuinely cares about Dachshunds! Thank you so much for establishing such a wonderful site.

Doing rescue and really not having any sources for donations an other assistance it is some times hard to do, but this little girl needed a chance and we were able to step up. Thank you an god bless you for what you do. We have been able to save 4 dogs from being put to sleep or sent to kill shelters because of your site. God Bless and Thank you again.      Jeff, Sasha was rescued in her ninth hour by a wonderful couple and I have received correspondence and a picture of Sasha in her new home. This dog's story is an incredible and amazing tale... I will tell you if you have the time. It's actually part of my healing process to tell this story. Sasha was bought by a registered nurse whom worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and was apparently not neglected but not loved or attended to like a dog deserves. The nurse begged some of her co-workers to take her and finally a wonderful Oncology RN named Kerrie agreed to take her. Kerrie lived here in Clarksville and had two kids and a loving home. Sasha was rescued for the first time. Kerrie eventually came to work at the same hospital as I and we met as co-workers. I was going through a divorce and so was she. Long story and two divorces later we ended up against incredible odds together. I knew soon after meeting her she was to be my best friend and mate for life. She was absolutely amazing. I moved in with her and Sasha and the kids and the cats. We spent almost 4 wonderful years together and Sasha became the matriarch of our family pets. She battled a skin condition which I managed to control through research and the right oils. She was a super pet. Well, this past October 6th I was driving Kerrie to work at Vanderbilt where we both now worked as an adult Oncology RN and I at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. It was dark, early morning, about an hour drive. We were holding hands and talking and were suddenly run off the road by a weaving motorist with no lights on. I was wearing my seat belt and Kerrie was not. She died in my arms at mile marker 16 on I-24 that morning as I whispered I loved her in her ear. As you can imagine, the past few months have been incredibly difficult and painful. I had so many things to deal with amidst the grief and survivor guilt, one of which was my oath to always make sure Sasha was OK. Kerrie was the love of a lifetime and I could not imagine having to let her Sasha go to a shelter. I posted here and there and did a lot of asking around at Vandy and Clarksville but to no avail. The house was in Kerrie's name so it went into foreclosure and I was forced to move in with a relative that couldn't allow Sasha. I was really having a hard time with things. The only real interest I had was a sweet woman in west Missouri who had no means of transporting Sasha. Being that I was injured and also financially unable to make the drive there either... that option didn't seem to be working out. At this point I was just coming by the house a couple times a day before and after work to feed and spend a bit of time with Sasha but her time was dire as the electricity and water were due to be shut off any day. Then, out of nowhere I get an e-mail from a couple interested in Sasha and were asking if they could come to town to meet her. I was floored and thrilled needless to say. I only really know that they live quite some distance as they asked for directions from Chattanooga which is a good 4 hour drive from here. I met them in a parking lot to introduce them to her and their dogs whom they brought with them, This was Black Friday. These wonderful people drove up on Thanksgiving and spent the night in a hotel just to meet this dog. Its like they sensed the desperation. Anyway, Sasha gets out of the car way too excited of course and begins barking at their adopted Tibetan Terrier, I was worried the deal was going to go sour already. Well, bless them, they were true dog people and were patient and understanding. They took turns walking Sasha and she soon calmed down. The couple said they think it would work out and of course I was in tears. Mixed emotions of joy that she would have a loving home as I promised my Kerrie and saying goodbye to a very big part of that woman, if that makes sense. Through my tears I noticed in the backseat of their car was another dog, looking very sickly and old, comfortable but obviously at the end of her journey. Sasha was going to be this couples healing helper, so much like her Kerrie's legacy, always nurturing and healing. It was an amazing set of coincidences and events. It was so emotional for me as you may imagine. At the end the lovely lady said they had been out shopping earlier and had got my a little something in the trunk. She pulled out a bag and had gotten me some cupcakes and truffles and teas, again I was stunned. I could see well as I thanked the and she handed me the folded bag of goodies. I waved goodbye after loving on Sasha a bit and watched them drive away. I felt conflicted knowing this was a God sent thing, a purpose and a meaning to Sasha and Kerrie's legacy and closing that chapter of my time with Sasha. I love where she is and don't think you could write a better script. I got home and was putting the cupcakes on the counter when through my tears I see that those angels had put money in the bag as well. Enough to pay for a new dog. I couldn't believe it. I am a believer in Karma and a very spiritual person. I know these people have plenty of money but bigger than that it's not right to take their blessings away. They will be blessed for this and I am sure just the feeling they get from saving a life and helping heal another has its own rewards. The couple has since sent me texts pictures reassuring my of how wonderful Sasha is going to be. I am so happy for her. So no you know Sasha's story... I hope other will gain from this somehow. Kerrie would want that. It gives me more faith in mankind and knowledge that with perseverance and having a never give up attitude will work. Positive energy begets positive energy. Thanks for reading all this an have a great Holidays. Thank you so much for your website and organization.. you were key to this without a doubt. Clint

Hello Jeff, I am happy to say that Rufus has found his new forever family. A couple called me saying that their elderly mother had recently had to put her Shih Tzu down after he was her companion for 10 years. We made arrangements for them to come and look at the dog, and after Rufus sniffed around a bit, he climbed up into her arms and went home with his new mommy. I hoped that I would find the ideal situation for him. He'd never been with any dogs, had been with my child, and was such a good companion; I wanted to make sure he had the right accommodations. She said she still had her groomer on speed dial, and that she was going to give Rufus the love and care that we had hoped for. She even said that she would continue to send pictures and even bring him by to visit with the kids every now and again. I had an awesome experience using your site. I am also going to suggest adding your charity to the list of charities that my organization (Apollo Group, Inc). donates time and money to. Thank you, Vickey Simmons

Hi Jeff, Pandora found a wonderful home with a wonderful person who had another 7 month old puppy that needed a friend and he found it in Pandora. Your site is wonderful and I hope that everyone takes time to send donations to your organization because it works. To all of you out there who love animals this is one of those organizations that once you take a few minutes to send a donation you will feel like you have done a great thing. So many dogs in need of mommies and daddies as I put it or just a best friend who will take the time out to throw a ball, get a lick , a warm bed and a gentle hug goes a long way. I have several dogs and 2 kitties and if I could I would have more. My favorite dog is my 3 y/o female belgian mali Roxy she is not only a dog but my second child lol and most of all my best friend. As christmas time rolls around please consider donating and if you need a new best friend who will forever stick by your side go to RescueMe.Org and pick one out. Thanks again Jeff we will be forwarding a donation within the next few days. Take care of all those kids LOL and Have a very Merry Xmas. Michelle Wilcox

Dear Jeff, Tough times seem to have escaped so few lately, and our family has been no exception. Add to that the fact that we have 6 kids to raise, AND we had 3 family members hospitalized in the same month....it became apparent to me, that we were no longer going to be able to afford our wonderful piggy-friend the happy life she (and all our animal friends), deserve. Having not yet discovered Rescue Me!, I tried for nearly a month to place her with a great new home using what resources (further limited, because I am a dummy with computers), I knew were available to me, the bulk of which, being a well-known online free ad site available in most cities. I had some responses, but either it was just not the right fit, or I could not feel confident enough that she'd be safe & happy. Running out of time & nearly at our wits' end, I did a search & found Rescue Me! Less than 48 hours after posting the adoption notice on Rescue Me!'s site, I had a call from a family who's piggy had recently passed. They were all set with the home & know-how and even drove the roughly 2 hours to come get her. They have offered to update my kids with photos of our ol' friend via email, and even said that we could visit if we wanted. It really turned out to be a storybook ending for all involved. Her new family can have her to help fill the void left by their other piggy's passing, and we can forge ahead through to better times, with our self-respect intact. Thanks to Rescue Me!, whenever I think of my old piggy friend, the fond memories won't be marred by concern of her well being. I would recommend Rescue Me! to anyone adopting or needing someone to adopt animals of this type. The Rescue Me! organization, truly is a blessing to animals & people alike. Reverently, Robb Murdock & Family (San Diego, CA)

Capone found an immediate home from a person who saw the add on Rescue Me's website. I had posted him on some other sites such as craigslist, petfinder, and a few rescue sites, and had no luck or bad candidates for a good home after meeting with people. I was contacted by many people who saw your site, and to my surprise had to actually screen and pick from a pool of very good candidates to include a doctor, an army sergeant, and a lawyer who were all good homes. The home I chose lives close by our home in the same city, and so we are able to remain friends with the home and see the dog which was a blessing to us. I really found your site to be of easiest to use, user friendly and very easy to place the add even for people who aren't computer literate. The picture uploading was super quick and the cropping tools were easy to use as well. Over all I give this site a ten out of ten rating! Thanks so much for helping us to place our animal and keep up the GREAT work! You will certainly be remembered at Christmas time!

Hi Jeff, We placed the Basenji, with an absolutely wonderful angel, Valerie Brown. The owner of the Basenji (Dingo) died on October 1, and he had three dogs. Before he died he asked me to take care of the dogs as he knew I would follow his wishes. I was not too worried about the other two, which are mini-St. Bernard's and are about 1 1Ϊ2 years old. But my heart was with Dingo. She was the one that knew her Master was never coming home to her again. Last Friday we had a gathering at Dingo's home for her master, Denny. His daughter just had too much on her 'plate' having 3 kids and her Dad dying and she has health issues and lives an hour away. So I decided I had to do something. She could not take any of the dogs and the only other option was the pound. I could not let that happen. I went home and went on your web site and Valerie emailed me immediately! I can't tell you how happy I was. Dingo was going to be rescued!! Valerie came for her on Saturday. She is truly a wonderful, kind, caring person. I knew from the second I met her that Dingo was going to be OK and loved. I can't thank your organization enough! Deb Carey

Hi Jeff, I remember signing up for the Rescue Me site a few years back and had a silky at that time. Our Murray had been with my husband and I since before we were married - we lost him this year at the age of 16 years and 9 months to Lymphoma. We were devastated. I honestly didn't think my heart would heal after the loss. He had become more and more dear to us as he aged. He had some random health problems but overall was a happy and healthy guy until the last week of his life. We knew when the morning came on May 23rd he no longer had any joy in his life that it was time and we had to let him go. I maintained to family and friends that I would never put myself through that again, Murray was such a part of us I couldn't even imagine filling the void. And then, on October 4th I got the email alert.... I looked because I couldn't help myself. The image there had me intrigued..... something about the expression, the eyes. The description of the need, though not dire or in harmful situation, I know the breed can be very 'only child' oriented. Long story short... I drove 9 hours on Sunday round trip to pick up 'Teddy'. His sweet temperament had me hooked from the beginning and I can't imagine not having him now after only 1 1/2 days!! Thanks to your organization, my daughter who I was sharing the website with to show her our prospective new family member found another animal in need and she will be adopting her today in Parkersburg, WV. A silky mix named 'Annie' who has been terribly abused and neglected her entire life almost. You're doing great work and we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. We look forward to sharing with you a success story for little Annie soon. In the meantime, Teddy is happy and enjoying his new family. I'm sure he misses his old routine and the parents he knew for the first 5 years but we will do our best to give him a happy life for the next 10 !! Very sincerely, Jennifer & Kerry Whitehead

Hi Jeff, Thank you so much for creating this site. It is so easy and quick to upload pictures and information to. The networking this site does with other rescues is amazing. I have had many adopters tell me that they were just googling 'border collie rescues,' for example, and found my dog on your site! The added exposure has been phenomenal. I am the rescue and adoptions coordinator (a happily volunteered position!) at Chester County Animal Shelter in Chester SC. Two years ago, we had virtually no adopters or exposure to rescues. The euthanasia rate was 99%. This mean that only 1% of all the dogs and cats coming in to our shelter ever made it out. Through the hard and dedicated work of a very small handful of people, the euthanasia rate has fallen to 25%!! This is unheard of for a county shelter. We are very small, and are built to house 64 dogs. However, the summer brought a record number of turn-ins and strays. We usually run at about 100+ daily. We have a tiny budget. We have relied almost exclusively on the internet to get the word out about our GREAT animals to rescues and to adopters. In closing, your site has allowed us to adopt over a dozen animals in the past month alone. We are so happy to have you out there as a champion for our pets, and for ALL pets in shelters, waiting for their forever families to find them! Take care and keep up the amazing work!      Hi Jeff, Your website is the only one I could find to help pets find new homes. If it wasn't for your site, God knows where Bella would be! She was adopted yesterday by a wonderful family that has had Staffordshire Terriers in the past, and is familiar with the breed and has rescued several dogs. She is sleeping in their bed and will even get to go camping with them! It is truly a happily ever after. They offered to bring Bella back for visits too! I can't say enough good things about your site. Thank you so much for your site and God bless you for all you do for these poor animals! Best regards, Barb Ayala

Dear Jeff, I can't tell you what a God Send 'Rescue Me' was for Jackson and me. I rescued Jackson a couple of months ago from a bad situation that was going to end in him being put down as that is what happened to his sibling, Ty, by an owner who just could no longer care for them. I live in a small apartment with my grown daughter and her 2 small dogs, a dach and a cocker spaniel, but I knew I couldn't leave a perfectly healthy 8 year old Yellow Lab to be put down . So I brought him home with me in hopes of finding him a home or finding me a larger place but neither had happened and Jackson was growing more despondent by the day. He lived for the moment that I walked in the door from work to take him for a walk and he was even trying to go out windows while I was at work. I knew I had to do something even though I had fallen in love with him and the big liquid brown eyes that just melted your heart. When he chewed the end of his tail off I knew the time had come to take action so I placed the profile on 'Rescue Me' on Thursday night and went to bed and prayed that Jackson would find the kind of home that he deserved and someone that would love him as much as I do. On Saturday my phone rang and it was a sheriff with the Pitt County NC Sheriffs Department and I was a little taken aback at first but he told me he had searched Lab Rescue sites in Virginia , NC and SC and that Jackson was a perfect fit for his 84 year old Dad who had lost his 10 Year Old Golden Retriever to cancer recently. He was willing to make the 5 1/2 hour trip when he finished his shift at 1 AM on Monday morning to pick Jackson up in Spartanburg. He was here at 715AM and Jackson went nuts when he came in the door and gave him kisses all over his face and you could see the love immediately. He also has Labs and Basset Hounds. Officer Mitchell took Jackson for a walk and when they returned , Jackson climbed up in his truck and I think he was actually smiling that big old goofy smile that Labs so often have when they know that everything is right in their world. I will always love him and treasure the time I had with him but I thank God for our Guardian Angels- Randy and John Mitchell of Greenville NC and you for starting a web site like 'RescueMe.' Sincerely, Kim Sargent, LabLover

Dear Jeff, Grendel was adopted just this morning by a wonderful couple. His new family also has a retired K-9 (shepherd) that they also adopted as well as 2 Pomeranian's. His new Dad is a reserve Police Officer & his new Mom is a stay at home Mom to their puppy family. I am so very grateful to have found your site. I know I would never have found Grendel a loving family like this one any where else. Thank you for the wonderful things that you do to help those like myself, that are no longer able to care for our precious dogs. It was amazing the responses that I received regarding Grendel. Each one was from someone that was truly looking for a pet to love & care for. I know in my heart that the family that has adopted my Grendel, will give him a wonderful home. He will me loved & cared for, for the rest of his life. These people are so amazing that they have even offered, that when Grendel does pass away. They will have him cremated & placed on my brothers grave. Thank you once again for allowing me a safe place to be able to place my Grendel for adoption. Much gratitude, BJ COUCH

She was off to a new home last Sunday and the new owners have confirmed that she has indeed become the bunny of their household. Such sweet success, thanks to Rescue Me! I never knew this site existed until the day I placed the posting. I had a call the next day from a grandmother wanting it for her grandchildren and one other email from the mother of a child wanting a bunny. But by the time I reached them, both had already found a rabbit. It must have been 'meant to be' because I then got an email that immediately lifted my spirits. It was from a couple living 100 miles north of here. We talked on the phone and several emails later, the bunny was, in fact, adopted by this couple who seemed to offer the ideal home for the rabbit. It seems like a match made by whoever watches over sweet spirits such as this bunny. This sweet & very pretty little rabbit was found abandoned in a beer box in a local park. My dogs and I were out for a walk and saw this box move... a small, very pretty little bunny came out and - well, she let me pick her up, so of course, she came home with us and I started trying to find a good home for her. She was examined by a vet and had her nails trimmed. This I could afford because my vet will do the wellness exam for free for rescued creatures. The Rescue Me! site and the fact that you personally make yourself available to help really seems to be the extra touch needed for rescue sites. Thanks so much from the 'foster' mom, who can now go on with a feeling of gratitude that it worked out this way. Such a sweet little bunny and she is missed here, even though I know it's a better place for her. Thank you so much, J. Joyce

Jeff, We have been very much impressed with the Rescue Me web site. And, we are very grateful for the site because it is so computer friendly. I stumbled on the site by coincidence while looking for another Bloodhound Rescue site. But to understand our full appreciation, I need to tell you some background. In 2003 my wife was diagnosed as having Crohns disease. She became very ill and we knew she would eventually become unemployable. She had raised, trained and competed with Golden Retrievers for many years. She had always wanted to have a boarding kennel and in Jan 2004 we started a pet service which allowed her to stay at home and work at her own pace. About that same time my longtime difficulties with mobility issues took a turn for the worse. We managed to keep the business under control with one exception, it grew like crazy. In March of 2006, a stray five months old Bloodhound puppy found her way to our door step. We did all we could to find the owner to no avail so we eventually claimed her as our own. We named her Charlie and as she grew it became obvious she was a true bred Bloodhound. Although we had no papers on her, we had many requests for a puppy from her. In the fall of 2008 we decided we would let her have one litter and Marcia (my wife) would keep one of the puppies to train and show. On January 23rd of 2009, Charlie presented us with 15 puppies, all were in perfect health with no deformities and we had no problem placing the puppies except for Ellie Mae whom we had planed from the beginning to keep. As sometimes goes life, Marcia's condition continued to get worse. From Sept. of 2006 to April of 2011 she was hospitalized 22 times, most of those for surgeries. In late 2009 she became wheelchair bound but along with her faith, she hung on to the hope that one day she would be able to work with Ellie May and maybe even show her. She gave it all she could, but by October of 2010 it had become obvious that working with Ellie Mae simply wasn't going to be possible as was the fact that we would no longer be able to operate the pet service even though we had hired help. We sold the kennel business on October 12th, 2010, which also meant we were facing a serious loss of income. With our kids help, we cut back, sold assets, paid off all debts and started adjusting to a new normal of life. Because we also had a Golden Retriever and a Shih Tzu, (neither one ate very much) we had to find new homes for Ellie Mae and Charlie as part of our cutting back. We had been dealing since April, 2011, with a Bloodhound rescue in North Louisiana but due to Ellie Mae's age, she just wasn't drawing much attention. Then a few weeks ago, ENTER 'Rescue Me.' The next week, the rescue folks in Louisiana thought they had a good home to place her so we sent her to Louisiana on Sept. 10. That same day, I had a seminar to do out of town and when I returned home that evening, I had a hit on the Rescue Me web site. I let the folks know Ellie Mae was no longer available but her mother, Charlie, was. So happens they were wanting a mature dog and Charlie filled the bill. As a matter of fact, they came here this afternoon and picked Charlie up to take her home to Crawford, Texas. Marcia had surgery for the last time on February 14th and it was very successful. Following months of physical therapy, she has now done away with the wheelchair AND the walker. She is still using her cane but she is once again, for the first summer in several years, been able to get out and work in her flower beds and vegetable garden. Thank you so very much for having your web site available to help us. The fact that it was free was huge. I wish we were able to send you a very large check, but things are really tight right now. One thing I can do is forward your request on to Charlie's new owners. Thank you again for all your hard work in putting the web site together for us, Dave Hylan Mount Pleasant, Texas

I wish I had known about this website earlier in the summer, when I needed to re-home my 5 llamas too. My 58 year old husband was always the animal care-taker and loved doing it. Sadly, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 4 and died on May 29. Due to an arthritic hand condition, it's nearly impossible for me to provide animal care. Finding a good home for my little goats has been a big priority for me, before I can even think about moving one with my life and I was getting desperate. I posted signs around the area at co-ops, feed mills, etc and was fortunate enough to find a home for the llamas but I struggled with the two 9 year old goats. I couldn't find anyone interested in taking them until I stumbled upon your website. The response was unbelievable. I feel like I had my choice of good homes for them. They went to a home about 40 miles from here. A farm with other animals, and a little boy who will grow up with them. A very nice couple came to get them with friends to help, a horse trailer and 3 little boys who came along for the experience. I was happy to give them all the supplies I had on hand, feed, dishes, electric water dish, hay, fence posts and extra fencing that they could use. They seemed very happy with my little guys and all the extras I sent with them. Before finding your website, I got close to having them put down. I had actually called a rendering plant near us, a company who will put down animals for farmers, but I couldn't do it. I gave it one more month and happily, they found a new home. I made a donation to this wonderful site just before sending this email. Keep up the good work, and I'll be sure to share this website with other animal owners. Please feel free to use my comments. Jeanne

Hi Jeff, If it weren't for Rescue Me, I would never have found the 2 darlin' Chihuahuas that I have adopted. Right now they are in TX, I am in SC. It is amazing the network of EARTH ANGELS who make these adoptions possible. That includes YOU and Rescue Me! The Chihuahuas are now named: Mia and Texas. Mia should be at the vet right now having her leg x-rayed. It may be broken. We plan to have her leg taken care of before she is spayed. I feel such comfort knowing their lives have been saved (they were to be KILLED today). I am relieved to know she is in good hands and is being taken care of. Lil Texas is lost without Mia and I hope they're not separated for long. TracysDogs.com has stepped up and is doing all the ground work for me, for them. Talk about loving Earth Angels! The dogs will be flown to Charleston, SC eventually by a loving SW Airline employee that volunteers for TracysDogs. Isn't that awesome??? Can you tell I'm excited? I say eventually because of Mia's leg, they both have to be spayed / neutered and there has to be flexibility and availability to transport them via air. THANK YOU JEFF for your site...your love of animals, your commitment and dedication....in saving animals and enriching the lives of people and pets. God bless you and yours! Sincerely, Kat Frederick

Hermosa was adopted! Using the Rescue Me site was a wonderful experience. We were fostering Hermosa for a friend who could no longer take care of her. Although we fell in love with her, we did not have adequate room for her to run and play the way a puppy needs to do. She seemed happy here, but we were looking for an even better place for her to stay. We fostered Hermosa for almost a year and tried to find another family to take her by word of mouth and by posting her on other websites. Each day, we were falling more in love with her and knew the longer we had her, the more attached we would become. So, I stumbled upon the Rescue Me website. Once I found it, I easily posted a description and picture and someone contacted us the next day. This was one of those 'God had a hand in this one' stories. A family in North Carolina had a 6 year old Newfoundland/Lab mix who got cancer in her leg. They were going to have to amputate to save the dog's life and they ended up losing her in the surgery. Obviously, the family was heart broken as they thought they would have her for years to come since she was so young. The oldest daughter, Ryan, began asking for another dog like the one they had lost. Her parents told her that if she saved up her allowance, and found a dog to rescue, then she could have it. So, Ryan worked hard and saved $50. Then, without her parents knowledge, she placed a letter in the mailbox of a woman who lives down the street who rescues dogs. The letter told the story and asked if she new of a Newfie or Newfie mix that she could have. Well, the woman only rescues small dogs and had nothing like what the girl was looking for. Moved by the letter, the woman told her grown daughter, Jennifer, the story. Jennifer then saw our dog's picture (Hermosa - a Newfie/Lab mix) and contacted us. The story gets even better....the family lives in NC and we live in Atlanta, GA. Jennifer just so happened to be coming to Atlanta the very next week for job training! She put us in touch with Ryan's family and we answered their questions and go to know them a little better. We decided they would be a good fit for Hermosa and they decided she would be a good fit for them. One week after posting Hermosa on Rescue Me, she had a new happy home. Hermosa now lives in another state and we are staying in contact with her new family. She has 3 acres of land to run around and play on and 2 other puppies to play with as well. The family called to tell us when Hermosa arrived that she is identical to the dog they lost last year - all black, cute as can be, identical personalities, and a Newfie/Lab mix. They couldn't be happier and we couldn't have found a better place for Hermosa. Rescue Me was definitely a God sent way for us to make our pet and 2 families very happy! Thank you for all that you do! Sincerely, Jillian Palmiotto

Dear Jeff, THANK YOU!! for loving doxies enough to devote yourself to them and their welfare! I have had a doxie most of my life (49 years!) and can't say enough good things about them. My 10 year old autistic son is very attached to our 13 year old rescue mini-doxie, Daisy, and I was looking for a young, mini. female, companion doxie when I came upon your site. The moment I saw Winnie on your Indiana page, I was hooked. I sent an email to her owner and hoped she hadn't been taken. I didn't hear anything back for a few days, and in the meantime had taken Daisy to the vet. The day I found out we could have Winnie was the same day the vet told me that Daisy has mammary cancer and doesn't have long to live. Bittersweet day to say the least... What a blessing Winnie has been to us all!! We couldn't have special ordered a more perfect girl for our family than Winnie for any price...and we got her free and only 45 minutes from our home! Thank you again, and GOD BLESS YOU AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR PEOPLE AND DOXIES!!! HUGS!! Paula

Hi Jeff, Woody and his sister, Marley, who I had not yet put up on your site, were both adopted by the same person through an ad on Rescue Me! These beautiful Black Mouth Curs, who escaped euthanasia in a kill shelter by a hair, will now live out their lives on a 100 acre farm in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. The couple adopting them lost their rescued Black Mouth Cur of several years to a long battle with lymphoma and chemo therapy. They were very glad to find my sister and brother black mouth curs from your site where I had posted Woody. I followed up with a video of these two and sent them to the couple. It was love at first site. I will be delivering these two doggies to their furrever homes in the next few weeks and enjoy a few days of the cool climate in the mountains myself . It is just a story that is almost too good to be true for all concerned.

She was adopted. A real nice couple with 4 children called and came out and they answered all my questions and seemed like the perfect home for her. I couldn't take any money because Cruella was my late wife's dog. I called last Friday to see how everything was working out. They invited me to come see her and see for myself and I told them I would in a couple of weeks. I don't want to confuse her and I want to make sure she is happy and settled in with her new family. I work 10 to 12 hours a day and she was so stressed out that I had to keep her in a kennel when I was gone. It felt like I was putting the poor animal threw torture. I just couldn't live with myself because we had become real close while my wife was in the hospital for 4 months. Just to come home for 3 days to die. Because she was so destructive I had to put Cruella in the kennel when she was left alone. Now some one is with her all day and night and they said she hasn't even made a mess in the house. She was pad trained because my wife couldn't walk and was disabled. I want to thank you for your web site it saved Cruella from the animal shelter. I know my wife would be very happy with the decision I made for her little one. Keep up the good work and thank you again. Doug
