I had been looking high and low for a rescue to take him, but they were all full and I wanted to make sure this little stray found a nice warm home! Someone told me about Rescue Me and I decided to give it a try. I quickly found him a great home with a loving new owner. So grateful for this site and I'll be sure to recommend it to others!

Through Rescue Me, Rudy found a new wonderful home. I couldn't ask for a better situation for him, though I miss him very much! I was concerned because Rudy was an adult dog that had a limp. Because my kids were empty nesting, he would have endless days of being home alone on the couch. I didn't want to leave him outside those long hours for fear he would dig out or harm his leg worse. There was little hope for him if I went through the humane societies. Within a few days on Rescue Me, Rudy's new mom notified me, and he is doing excellently!

Received a call from a 12 year old girl, who wanted Preston for her brother for a present. She said her brother's Chihuahua had died. Told her I needed to talk to her mom and she gave me her mothers work phone number. Found out from her mom that she was her foster daughter, who she will be adopting. And her brother is with his foster family but coming to visit for three days. This little girl has such a love for animals, she wants to be a vet one day. I met this sweet family and hope Preston will be as happy as they were to get him. Thank you, Rescue Me.

Thank you Rescue Me!!! These two adorable dogs, Toby and Jessie, have found a new mom and will be heading to their new home this weekend. This is a true blessing during a very difficult time for the family of their current mom who is at the end stages of her cancer battle. We had many responses to the post and were able to find the perfect home.

Thank you so much, Rescue Me! We just adopted a beautiful St. Bernard, Sophie. She is the biggest sweetheart and fits into our family just perfectly! Our St. Bernard/Mastiff puppy loves her to death and plays with her whenever she can, while our older dog enjoys her company. All of our kids just love her so much. We couldn't have asked for a better dog! God bless her former owner for giving her up and allowing us to let her be her forever home. We're so grateful!

I wanted to let you know about a man named Ray who lives in another state, over four hours away! He called me about Hank because he was heartbroken at having recently lost the dog love of his life after only seven years together. There was something about Hank that gave Ray reason to hope he could find a new dog to love and cherish. I never knew how Hank came to be at our shelter, but in the process of the adoption, I learned that he had been surrendered by his owner just before being admitted to hospice. It seemed so fitting they were coming together to fill the holes in one another's lives with new love and devotion. It was an honor to help bring these two together through Rescue Me. Thank you so much for providing this resource!

Your site is wonderful. We lost our eight year old yellow Lab in August due to kidney shutdown. We were devastated and kept checking Rescue Me daily. We found Mike, whom we loved at first sight. He is now part of our family and will go RVing with us and his sister, our little Chihuahua 'Lola'. We are a great family once again. We know our Rusty (yellow lab) would have wanted us to adopt another rescue. RIP Rusty we will always be in our heart eternally.

My brother passed away after a 26 year illness. He had adopted Wolfie, a Siberian Husky, last year when he was much healthier. Wolfe was his companion, friend, bed warmer and, above all, FurChild. When my brother passed, my Parents, who are both not in the best of health themselves, were at a loss as to what to do with this 100 pound bundle of electricity. A quick search, a friend's suggestion and some surfing led me to choose Rescue Me. After one photo, a phone call and a prayer, a man called me and we set up a meet and greet. It was a prayer answered. Wolfe has a family whose energy level matches his, and he can be as active as he needs to be without fear of hurting anyone. Our family could not be happier with the follow up letters, emails and the kindness we experienced with this somewhat hurtful re-homing. Thank you, Rescue Me.

This morning a wonderful couple came to visit Joey and they seemed to have fallen in love with him, as has their dog Riley. Joey and Riley seem like they are going to be best friends and buddies. It makes me feel good that placing Joey with them was the right choice. They are going to continue sending us pictures of him and have told us we were more than welcome to come visit Joey at any time which makes us feel so much better. Thank you, Rescue Me, for finding our Joey a forever home where we know he will be happy in and making us feel we have made the right choice.

We just adopted AJ through Rescue Me and what a wonderful result! A perfect replacement for our lab/husky, Hannah, who passed two years ago. We realize that you can't ever actually replace a dog, but AJ certainly has both the looks and personality of our former dog and will certainly fill a void in our lives for the past two years. Thanks, Rescue Me, for the gift.

Dear Mr Gold, Thank you so very much for having a 'Rescue Me'. It's the best way to look for a pet. I adopted the most darling little Morkie (maltese/yorkie) through a wonderful rescue center who posts through Rescue Me. Bless all of you who take part in helping to save these precious animals and give people the opportunity to find their new buddy as well.

Bailey is in a transition period. She is very nervous with change of any kind. We not only found the perfect home for her, but also a kind hearted new owner who is willing to take the time to adopt her so that Bailey can get used to her new surroundings. We are actually doing play dates for about two weeks so that she is totally comfortable with the transition into her new home. This is the best of both worlds for Bailey, she can take time getting used to her new family and pulling away from her old family. She will have room to run and farm animals to play with! Who could ask for more? I am so glad that we posted her on Rescue Me.

We adopted Bella and we couldn't be happier with her! She is such a sweet, smart girl, and has already bonded with everyone in the family, even Grandma and Grandpa. We were told that she was an outside dog, but we brought her inside right away, and she was thrilled. She is great with our two kids and is thriving on their love and attention. We are looking forward to having her as a part of our family for years to come! Thanks, Rescue Me!

My 12 Year old female, Sally, was adopted by an amazing family. They love her and send me updates regularly. Then, my 15 year old male was pining for Sally and they took him too. I'm so happy and feel relieved that Rescue Me was around. My living circumstances changed and it broke my heart to look for homes for my doggies, but they are even happier now.

This little girl rescued our hearts. We welcomed Lucy into our home, and she quickly became part of our family. Just a few days after seeing her post, we were in touch with the Lucy's previous owner and the foster family. We made arrangements to meet and play with her, and soon after, we brought her home. She has brought new joy to our family, and is getting along famously with our 12 year old cat. We are grateful to Jeff Gold and the Rescue Me organization for providing this website and adoption service.

My husband and I took in two strays that were wondering our court. We took them to get checked for chips and they had neither chips nor tags. We then went the 'old school' route by putting up flyers and calling vet offices, and shelters to get the news out that we had them if they were in fact missing. It seemed no one was looking for them, but they were so sweet and smart that we just didn't have the heart to dump them at a shelter or animal control where they might be put down due to 'space.' Two days after we found them, I found Rescue Me and holy cow! In two days time, one of them had a home and a day later the other did too! We were able to meet both families who are spoiling them and loving them as we speak! It was such a blessing finding this amazing site to help these amazingly sweet dogs. We can't save the world, but we can make a difference in the lives of the ones when the opportunity presents itself. Thank you, Rescue Me!!!

We really didn't want to have to re-home Mae, but she just wasn't comfortable with our small child. Through Rescue Me, we were able to connect with a K-9 trainer. Mae is entering into her new life as a working dog and I sincerely believe that this will fulfill her working needs and give her the quality of life she deserves. We were contacted and worked with the adopter to make the transition smooth for everyone. Of course, tears were shed, but minimized by the fact that we knew she was entering into a great new life. I would absolutely recommend this site as a way to re-home your pet and connect with people that can provide a home that meets their needs. Just remember to please screen your potential adopters carefully and call on references provided. Thank you!

Thank you, Rescue Me, for helping me find the perfect home for Fred. He was a starving and very sick puppy when I found him and his brother. The local shelter was full so I took the dogs home. His brother was adopted right away while Fred needed time to get well and adjust. Yesterday, he moved to his forever home. A family with four children adopted him and Fred will get all the attention and love he deserves. He is a very happy, loving dog and this site made it possible to find the perfect match.

We were so happy to be contacted by a lovely lady through your Rescue Me site. She was interested in one of our little dogs, Wendy, that we'd been trying for a long time to find a home for. The lady had been widowed some time ago and following a long time of healing following her traumatic loss, was finally ready to open her heart to a dog. She visited our shelter and fell in love with Wendy. So, off they went together to her home where Wendy has settled in well. She now has a lovely warm bed instead of a wood pallet, and some brand new toys to play with! This lady has fallen in love with her totally. We love happy endings! Thank you, Rescue Me, for helping us find Wendy her new forever home. A little donation has already been made!

We found the sweetest little girl on Rescue Me and now she is our very own! What a wonderful experience to utilize this site. It was easy to find pets near or far and any kind of breed you want. Once I saw this face, I was done! Second Chance Dogs of Ashe was terrific in their screening and care of their animals too! Now my home is complete and my Izzy (lab mix) has a little sister. In less than twenty four hours, they have played together and even curled up together. Thank you Rescue Me!

I wanted to share my story to help encourage others trying to find a home for their pets. I tried everything and had almost given up finding a home for our puppy. I am so thankful that I came across Rescue Me! I found the perfect family for our puppy and couldn't be more pleased. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found out about this site. I think it's a wonderful thing that Rescue Me is doing to help people in finding homes for their pets or people looking to adopt. We have a terrible problem with people dumping animals out on us and it just got to where we couldn't afford to feed everyone while trying to take care of our family. I feel really good that I did my very best for our puppy and I couldn't have done it without Rescue Me. Thank you!!

Emily, a young Treeing Walker Coonhound, was pulled from Columbia, SC Animal Shelter. She was due to be euthanized last week. I fostered this gorgeous, sweet-tempered girl until a home could be found. The posting was submitted and a lovely family contacted me shortly after. Emily and I met the family yesterday, and I took her to her new permanent home this afternoon. Emily is very fortunate and will love having a large yard and six children to help take care of her. I encourage everyone to donate to Rescue Me! There simply aren't enough forums to match dogs in need with people who want to adopt. The shelters are full, and the volunteers (like myself) and the rescue groups can't keep up. Please help Rescue Me to continue their amazing work.

What a fantastic service Rescue Me provides! We were fostering our daughter's three year old Kelpie Mix. Our daughter could not keep her due to her change in marital status. Korra is a wonderful dog but we were unable to keep her. Our lifestyle and work schedules were not suitable to the needs of a Kelpie. Korra loves to go on walks, play ball and is a delightfully active dog. We asked friends, family, associates and even posted her on Facebook. I searched for Kelpie Rescues and Rescue Me came up in my search. I am so very thankful that it did! I had several inquires about Korra within days. I am so thrilled to report that Korra met her new family yesterday and the adopting family is everything and MORE than I could have hoped and prayed for. Korra needs stability and a forever home. Korea has had a long trail of being bounced around from the original owner to shelter to our daughter, to her husband and then to us. Korra is such a sweet and loyal dog but the instability she has endured has made her less trusting than I know she will eventually be. Now that Korra has a forever home she will have the fine, happy, healthy life she deserves. The couple who adopted her are great people and we look forward to hearing from them and getting photos from them of Korra as she finally settles into her new and forever home. Korra means companion and I know she is a good companion. I will miss having Korra with us, but I know she is finally where she belongs! Thank you so much Jeff Gold for developing this remarkable website and program.

We recently adopted Buddy, a three year old Blue Pit. He has been an amazing addition, adding laughter and love to our family. He is such a kind, playful, beautiful dog with no aggressive behavior at all. We have a blind dog in the house and Buddy has been really loving to him. Just truly blessed to have lucked upon Rescue Me. His owner, Rhonda, was amazing, honest, helpful in all possible ways, and was very thorough in making sure Buddy went to a kind, loving home. This has been the best, all around experience I have ever had adopting a pet and I will send everyone I know who is looking this way. Thanks for everything!

Poor Satchel waited and waited as others got adopted at his former rescue. We listed him on Rescue Me and he found his perfect, forever home. Satchel was a victim of the east coast hurricane that almost wiped the eastern seaboard off the map. With his home and his family gone Satchel had given up hope till he was found locked in the garage of what was left of his family home. Moved to NYC, the poor boy looked and looked for his family. They never came. As the days came and went, so did Satchels hope of finding his family. We come upon him at his former rescue and fell head over heals for this big lover. We took him home to the country and he fell in love, But living in a foster home was not the same as his own. Satchel watched as others came into the rescue and left without so much as a look. We found Rescue Me and started using it simple and so easy to navigate. A family contacted us and the rest is rescue history. Satchel is in love with his new family and doing so well. Thank you Rescue Me for helping us find the perfect family for our hunk of love Satchel. Much love the unchained love gang.

We got Nala when we first moved into our house. We have two small children that love dogs, but they are very shy and don't like dogs that jump and nip. After a few months, she scared the boys so much that we had to make the tough decision to give her up. I posted her on the Rescue Me website. Within 12 hours, I had two people wanting to adopt her. No more than 24 hours, I found a great new home for this dog that I loved so much. It was so hard letting her go, but I was so relieved to have found as good of a home as I did.

Thank you so much Rescue Me for providing a way to get information out about a dog in need of a new home. We are thrilled to let you know that my mom's 10 year old husky has a new home that she seems made for. Her new life will be with another female husky, who was looking for a buddy, and three humans! She will have room to run and so much attention! We already have feedback that she has been 'talking' to her new family. That is a sure sign that she is comfortable and happy. I had originally been concerned that her age would be a road block, but we had five calls on her over about a month's time. We took her for a visit and when we headed for the car to go home, she headed for the house where her new family lives. All it takes is the right fit and we are so happy that she has found it.

This beautiful, little girl pretty much picked her family. They came to look at another little girl- but it turns out this one chose them. Too funny! She showed more interest in this family's son, than she had to anyone all day. So, it was very much meant to be. She will have another dog to play with, a great yard and all the attention and love she deserves. Plus, I have become wonderful friends with the woman who has adopted this little girl. A win win.      My wife and I met Gypsi today and immediately fell in love. This five year old female was standoffish initially, but she loved to be petted by my wife. Gypsi came from a loving home and it could be observed in her manners. She is a beautiful, alert, and loving GSD. We hope to have her for a long time. Even our black lab took to her immediately. Thanks, Rescue Me, for the opportunity to 'rescue' this beautiful animal.

After losing my best friend, a cocker spaniel mix, to old age, I put off looking for another companion until I found the picture of Tripp on the Rescue Me website. I arranged to meet the owner. My wife and I took to Tripp like he was ours from the start. Tripp is happy in his new home and is a great companion and friend to our family. Our little girl fell in love with him when she came home from school. Tripp will definitely be a great addition to our home. Thanks, Rescue Me, as your service is a blessing.

The moment I saw the ad for Manny I knew he was going to be ours. He looks like a mini version of our Maxwell and Murphy. Truly, Manny rescued me. We had to put our precious Murphy down yesterday. The pain in my heart is like nothing I've experienced and I know the tears will be ongoing for a long time. But now, as I write this, I'm laughing and smiling, watching Manny run around our house playing with toys that are everywhere. He is a little angel taking care of us. I have told him already (we've just got him five days ago) that I'm his mommy and he is going to have the best life ever. He kisses my tears and makes my heart feel better. Thank you, Rescue Me, for sending him our way. The timing is unbelievable. He was meant to be with us!

Thank you for helping me find a home for my dogs. I lost my husband last year and couldn't keep my dogs. A lady called and said she wanted to adopt them. My niece took them to her and she said they are doing very well. The best part is she lives close to the hospital where my husband passed away. I felt like it was a sign from him. It was very hard on me to not keep them. God bless Rescue Me!!

Mikie was adopted by a loving family because of Rescue Me. This family was looking for a small dog for their 10 year old son. They saw Mikie on the Rescue Me website and emailed me. After considering other potential adopters, we chose this family for Mikie. He is very happy there and the 10 year old just loves him and thinks he's 'cool'. Best of all, I can visit Mikie as he lives only minutes away. Thank you also to the family for giving Mikie his forever home.

Odyssey was adopted. His name in the dictionary means 1: a long wandering or voyage usually marked by many changes of fortune. 2: an intellectual or spiritual wandering or quest. I believe both meanings fit this, especially blessed, heartworm positive puppy. Odyssey was found wandering the streets. Odyssey is a nine month old Corgi/Bassett hound puppy. Officer Fuentes rescued Odyssey and brought him to a veterinary hospital where he stayed in a small cage. He had been roaming around for a while because he appeared very dirty, hungry, thirsty yet very grateful. He was eventually transported to be boarded. Officer Fuentes took photos and eventually took him to the vet to get vaccines. We followed the 'seven business day hold' protocol awaiting their human parents to claim them. No calls came in. No one wanted a heartworm positive puppy. I started receiving inquiries on Odyssey from Rescue Me from a woman named Beatrice. After several emails and phone calls, Beatrice and her husband Mike 'just knew' Odyssey was to be theirs. We had Odyssey neutered and he had some healing issues and was back and forth to the vet. Beatrice sent me pictures of her and Mike's beautiful home in the country on a horse ranch with their two dogs and horses. We discussed Odyssey's medical history since he'd been with us, and we discussed him flying to their home. Officer Fuentes felt that flying may not be suitable for a heartworm positive puppy. Beatrice said she would work on another option. She informed me that her husband Mike would be driving or flying during the week to come get their new fur baby. I was ecstatic with joy for Odyssey's new life! Mike landed safely and rented an SUV. We met at the veterinary hospital. Mike spoke to the vet about the heartworm. He filled out the adoption paperwork as he bonded with his new four legged fury son. When he finished, I put 'Odyss' in the animal control truck with me, and Mike followed as we set out for a shopping trip. 'Odyss' got a new crate, pillow, cloud neuter collar, treat and food for his long ride home. I felt like I could cry as I watched Mike sitting on the tailgate enjoying watching his new puppy munching on his treat in his new crate. I had to get back to work so we parted ways. Beatrice emailed me pictures the next day of her, and the dogs. She promised to keep in touch and has sent emails and pictures since. Thank you Mike and Beatrice for everything you went through to give this wonderful, stray, heartworm positive puppy an amazing Odyssey!

I am truly so happy to find such a fine Doberman (our second) and to be able to adopt him into our home directly through the previous owners. Many rescues impose so many restrictions and have no trust in the ability of a prospective adopter to handle behavior problems or to re-train the new dog thus denying the prospect the chance to even interview, meet the dog or be approved for adoption. I am a dog trainer and though Duke may have some issues, these issues were made very clear on the site and can be addressed appropriately by me with training and proper handling in the home. I don't believe the Duke's issues warranted his euthanasia and we are very happy to have him and that he can continue with his life in a new home. Thank you so much to Rescue Me for helping us to find Duke and give him a new home.

This website is so awesome. My wife and I were worried about finding a home for Daisy. We visited some of the local shelters and realized she deserved better. She was a rescue and we decided to keep her until a permanent home could be found. Just the right person came along shortly after posting her on Rescue Me! We had another inquiry a few hours later. It's so hard to place dogs, particularly large breeds. I'm not sure we would have been successful without your resource. Expect a donation from us, your service is so worth it.

I fell in love with Emmy Lou when I saw her picture on your website. When I showed her to my husband, he said 'call right away what are you waiting for?' We were the first to call, got our application in immediately and were approved. The foster family was amazing. It was unclear if the puppy possibly had Giardia. The foster mom kept the puppy for a week to treat her and then got a stool sample to assure she was clear. The foster mom, sent me pictures everyday and updated me throughout the day on Emmy Lou's antics and progress. It was hard to wait to pick her up, but when we got her it was worth every minute. We lost our 15 year old boxer/lab mix and were missing having a dog in our lives. Emmy Lou has filled our hearts again and we could not be happier. Did I mention the one o'clock am needing to go out!!! LOL. It's like having a baby again. What could be better? Thank you to all the volunteers for everything you do for dogs.      I just want to take a minute to express my gratitude to Rescue Me. It has been a real struggle for me and my kids to put Duke and his daughter up for adoption. My living situation changed and, unfortunately, resulted in us having to make this decision. After posting Duke, I got a text asking for more info! I sent pictures of both of them and was very surprised when she wanted to see both. We met. My babies went to her right from the beginning and never barked one time at her! We arranged for her to take them for a weekend to see how things went with her and her son. We then met to get their shots and really connected, I was able to see that my dogs were going to a very loving, warm home! Your site connected me with someone who loves my babies as much as I do! Truly blessed, thank you so much for your service.

This was a miracle. I had two days for Coco to find a home or I had to take him to the pound due to a change in my living situation. I had been praying that someone, somewhere, would see him and fall in love with him. At the end of the second day, I was getting depressed and very sad. I started calling all the local animal shelters and was told that they were all full and that if I brought him in he would most probably be put down. Then at the last minute, I received a call and it was a little old lady not far from us. She had seen his add on Rescue Me and was willing to come and see him. Coco warmed up to her right away and now he has a good home, a yard to run in, and three cats to be friends with. This is a miracle. God loves dogs too. Thank you, Rescue Me, you helped save my loving friend. I can not tell you how much this means. I pray that God blesses this site so many more pets will have a chance to live just as my little buddy did.

Kira just went home with her adoptive parents. Kira was abandoned on a dirt road along with four other dogs, one of which was shot by an irate neighbor irritated with the problem of pets being left in this area. Kira found an awesome home with an older couple who had just lost their pet of 14 years to cancer. Amazingly, Kira's picture on Rescue Me had a huge resemblance to the pet they lost. After talking to this couple, it was obvious they loved and cared for their pets and Kira would be no different. We had our meet and greet this morning, and now Kira is on her way home with this loving couple. Thank you, Rescue Me, for helping her to find the 'good life'!

Buddy was found as a stray in extremely poor condition. The person who found him was not able to keep him, was only able to get him off the streets. He was then relocated with a young man. Unfortunately, the landlord would not allow him to keep him. Then a babysitter was added to the mix, and that's where I came in. I saw him being walked and commented on the dog. He needed a home. They were unsuccessful, tried all they know, and were fearing they might have to put him down. So, Buddy came home with me. After trying approximately 60 different names, we kept Buddy which is what the babysitter was calling him. He seemed to like it well enough. This poor dog, approx eight years old, did not know any of the basic commands. He didn't know what a toy was or even a milk bone. He had gained weight, but he was still horribly thin. Veterinarian visit showed worms, but no heart worm. We treated and started on preventative. Buddy is a great dog, however, was never taught not to kill cats, chickens and squirrels. Not only did he kill seven chickens, almost got a few barn cats, and house cats (who were subsequently locked in the basement). He scaled fences, broke through large inside wire kennels, opened house doors, and so on. He also was not into human contact. He accepted it, but either way was okay with him. After working with Buddy a few weeks, (with our house cats still in the basement and pretty mad at that!), he caught a chicken and brought it to me still alive. Huge Progress! He also learned to sit, to lay, and fetch. Oh, he knows what toys are now, and is loving pets and scratching and loving the affection. Thanks to this site, Buddy was placed today in his new home. He was not an easy one to place. It had to be just the right person willing to continue his training. Buddy came from a really dark place but, thanks to Rescue me, his remaining days will be happy.

I appreciate everyone who responded to my post on Sarge. Sarge has been adopted to a great, loving home where he will be loved and cared for physically and mentally. He is also to be trained for search and rescue! With myself being an E911 dispatcher, I know from personal experience how useful a trained dog is, especially for a small child missing or an elderly person confused! It gives me great pleasure, comfort and peace of mind that Sarge will be trained to do what he was actually bred to do and he can possibly save a life! If it wasn't for Rescue Me, I would have not found a person who is so passionate about training dogs for search and rescue missions. He also shared a few of his stories about previous dogs he trained and still has that has rescued or saved someone. It brought tears to my eyes and comfort to my heart!! Thanks for all the help!!!! I will also be allowed to keep a check on Sarge and get updates on his progress which makes me feel even more pleased!!!! I can't say it enough, THANKS!!!!

We are able to save more lives with the prison program and using Rescue Me. Trevor was pulled straight from the shelter and went to the prison program to get one on one training and lots of love and attention. He got adopted by a mother and daughter that will keep training him to go into retirement homes and schools to teach others to love and respect dogs. He is one blessed dog that will be sharing his love with so many with the help of his new family. Thank you for your help, Rescue Me. You made it possible for them to find us. He has always lived in a pen and had very little interaction with the outside world. Now he has a life with three other Aussies, and the most wonderful woman that takes him out on hikes every day. He goes to the lake to swim, and he gets to run off leash. This is something he has never in his life been able to do. You see, Splash was born blind so his world consisted of a pen.      My husband (our pets' daddy) was killed in a motorcycle accident. At first, I had the best of intentions for taking care of our dogs, but it soon became clear that it was all I could do to take care of myself and our three and a half year old daughter. As I will be leaving the state by the end of the year and am not exactly sure of what my living situation will be at first, I knew it wouldn't be fair to my dogs to add that stress to them. They were used to a very physical lifestyle. My husband used to take them out for runs/walks several times a day and they just aren't getting that from me. Most days it's all I can do to take my daughter to daycare, pick her up, and check the mail. I want my dogs to have a loving, wonderful home - what they used to have here. I found Rescue Me via Google and put Cody up on the adoption page. Within about five hours, I had my first email - and after meeting with Cody's new mommy today, I can't thank you enough. He liked the family so much he tried to jump in their truck to go home with them! That's what I call a successful adoption story!

We received a call from a lady on Monday that said she had wanted a white Schnauzer for a long time. She sounded very interested in Pooh though I told her that I thought we had found him a home already. I left the post on Rescue Me because I wanted to be sure that my Stepson and Daughter In Law were going to be able to keep him. I told her this and she said, 'well please keep me in mind if you should happen to get him back or hear of another one for adoption'. It turned out that the very next day, my Stepson called and said that they could not keep him so I called Carrie back. At this time she explained that she had MS and wondered if Pooh might make a good companion for her and possibly be trained as a service dog. I told her that he was very smart and that I thought it very well possible that he could learn to help her with the things she would need. They came up on Tuesday and fell in love with Pooh took him home. I was told last night that he moved right in with their Chihuahua and has made a new friend, has also started to pick up on the fact that Carrie needs help with things at times. In fact on the way home, they stopped for a restroom break. Carrie was getting tired to the point she could not push the restroom door open and Paul said that Pooh just automatically jumped up and pushed it open with his feet for her to get through. Thank you for a great website that is very easy to use, and is a great help in placing good dogs with the people they need to be with.

I am very grateful for Rescue Me. I rescued Reagan after she had ruptured the ligaments that held her left rear leg together. Her owners could not afford surgery. I paid for her surgery and all subsequent rehab. Reagan is the sweetest dog I have ever fostered and was well worth the thousands of dollars it cost to repair her. Last week I was contacted by a family who wanted to meet and possibly adopt. I took Reagan to their home and as soon as Reagan saw all the children running around, she started smiling. I had never seen her look so happy. I am so very grateful that she has children. I never realized how badly she wanted to play with kids. Her new Mommy is in touch and gives me pictures and updates. Thank you so much for this fantastic service.

I had never used this site before, so I am very happy that I found it during a Google search for Pekingese rescue organizations. Is it a Peke rescue site? No...it's even better. I was trying to find a home for Moshi, a gorgeous 4-year-old Peke I had fostered for several months last year. The home I placed him in last year did not work out, and I was at my wit's end. Having moved to a different apartment complex due to financial reasons, I could no longer have pets, which meant I could not take Moshi back and foster him for however long it took to find him a forever home. We had become very bonded during the fostering process, and it was breaking my heart to think that his owner was going to take him to a shelter. I had to do something. I must stress that rescuing is something I do on my own. I am not affiliated with any organizations. I've always loved animals, and when I see dogs and cats (and once a turtle!) that need a home, I try to help. Many of my acquaintances on Facebook are fellow animal lovers, and posts get shared and shared and shared and shared, but I have never seen the success I witnessed with Rescue Me. It was mind blowing. Within minutes of Moshi's adorable mug being posted on Rescue Me, I was receiving email after email -- from California, to Illinois, to Virginia. I couldn't believe my and Moshi's luck! Here were true dog lovers, with good homes, who had experience raising and loving dogs and were ready to adopt the little guy. After interviewing dozens of these kind-hearted folks, I found the perfect family for Moshi. He now has a Peke sister, almost exactly the same age, and two loving human parents who drove down to pick up the latest addition to their family. Rescue Me is the best -- I cannot stress that enough. I am so grateful that I am beside myself with joy. Rescue Me provided me, a family, Moshi, and his new sister, Sassy Peaches, with an honest to God happy ending. Thank you, Rescue Me. You rock!

I'd just like to report that within 24 hours of my posting on your website, our beautiful Lola was adopted by an awesome couple. She began to socialize with their puppy immediately. I always had reservations about finding a home for Lola, a rescued dog that we found wandering on a major road some years ago. Despite advertising for her owner at local vets and through social networks and then appealing for someone to adopt this magnificent dog, our calls fell on deaf ears. So, we kept her and were very blessed to have known such an amazing companion. She even survived a home-invasion poison attack...such is the will of this dog as a survivor. So, from being lost or abandoned on a major road, to being poisoned, to now being adopted prior to our impending emigration to Australia (where their legislation bans the importation of this breed), I am absolutely ecstatic that we have found such a loving home for her. Kudos to your Rescue Me network and to all the people out there working to restore the good name of this breed by smashing the misconceptions that abound.
